Even with everything you have to do to load the conversions it still may be a tad quicker than the cap and ball. But i don't know i havent shot either yet

Ok I'm ok on Mosins right now. I need a 1858 Remington and 1851 Colt Navy, and that is just a start.

Re: Struck Black Gold yesterday.........
The only conversion cylinder I have is for the Ruger Old Army. The ROA is as strong as any modern revolver, it isn't a copy of a 19th century revolver, if I was to load a full power cartridge it would take it with no problem. This is not the case with the older designs , they may be made from modern steel, but they still are not as strong as a revolver made to use modern smokeless cartridges. They should be used only with black powder cartridges. Never use a conversion cylinder with a brass frame revolver, accidents happen, one round of modern smokeless ammo gets mixed in by accident and it could be game over. If you want a cartridge shooting revolver get a nice, used .38 special or something, shoot the old revolvers like they were meant to be shot.desdem12 wrote:Black powder cartridges. I am not sure if you can run something like trail boss thru them or not as I don't have a conversion. I have thought about it for sure. I know JYD has some conversions. There is loads for them in black powder and some cowboy shooters use them.
