That is a serial number. I see they put the s mark over the original build date. Can you read it?

Not sure, I thought I saw that too. Usually it has a couple of acceptance marks and then a 2 digit date but I did see the 901 so maybe they used 3 early. I have one that is marked with the w and has 16 and the other does not have it above the wood.

Man that is sharp looking Like the blond stock. Ammo is out there, you just have to look a little harder. I picked up a box of 8x56R for 26 bucks at a gun show recently. Privi.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I have been sitting on a couple of the clips for one of these, but still need the rifle. Yours looks good. I want to handload for this caliber once I find the rifle. My C&R expired and I didn't renew, or else I'd jump on one right now.
How much does ammo for these run usually? I found Nazi marked 1938 dated ammo locally, in the clips, in ten round boxes with a big red 's' on it. clean looking ammo. $6.99 per ten pack.

7 bucks is a deal and a half. The 10 rounds with the clips go for 20 bucks here. The prvi is also 20 dollars but it is for 20 rounds. I would get a few of those for 7 bucks.

ammo is the only thing keeping me from buying one of these, that and I don't wan a nazi one.. A dollar a round is just to step for my blood.. But for $100 I really want one, why are they so cheap any way ??
Because they are so awesome If you don't want a Nazi one then get a Bulgarian one.

Yeah, but how can I be sure I get one from j&g if I order one?? On a side note what do I look for so I can tell the difference. My grandparents were survivors of the Holocaust, and I really have to draw the line at nazi stuff in my house.
I personaly have never seen a Nazi marked one...ever. There may be some but I have looked at a lot of them. The Nazis did use them for sure and made ammo for them. They used them in police action and rear action. Bulgarian ones have a crest on them and usually cost 150 more or maybe more then that. I think a long rifle maybe not have been used but who is to know. I have a Budapest one and a steyr and work is the Budapest marked ones were used by police later after WWII but not sure on that either. I have no Nazi stuff and have one german rifle that was sent to turkey(gew 88) so I don't look for it. I am not sure if I have Nazi marked clips or not. One is Austrian marked.
