Russian SKS

Post by Red Green »

Hello everyone...new here. I just found this forum after buying a Mosin. I do have a Russian 1954 Izhevsk SKS I bought this past fall and thought I would share. It is kind of unique as it is an Izhevsk but has a Tula stock, and a blued bayonet.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

It was one of the ways they carried out the refurbishment process. Some got matte finished silver bayonets, like the later new rifles got. Others got black painted, or blued bayonets. This carbine also got a stock replacement as it has the original serial number XXXXXX'd out, and as it shows a different arsenal stamp. Great color and finish to that stock as well, beautiful.

Lots of character for sure. Nice score on getting an Izhevsk!

There is a bunch of them down here, an Omni GLHS lives down the road, I still have my Shelby Lancer and I know where an actual running Spirit R/T lives.

My second car was a 1986 Dodge "Shelby" Charger. Looked just like this one color wise, but a more aggressive stance. I still miss it.
