What is your favorite load for shooting around 400yds

Post by sclinesr »

Haven't done any reloading for the 91/30 yet and was curious as to what other reloaders found that they like the best for shooting around 400yds?

You can try Polygunbags.com I got some of the Chinese Sniper Ammo from them, and am about to get some of the Egyptian Green Tip Long Range Tracer Ammo.

With my eyesight only praying gets me hitting anything at 400 yards

How much powder does a twelve pounds cannon take? That would be my favorite load.

Guess I'm just going to have to wait for the milsurp ammo to start drying up before I can get a serious answer but by then I'll have already figured out what works best in my 91/30.

Don't have any load data for the 308. Don't own one. Hoping to get a British 303 one of these days. Very little information out there for loading the 7.53x54r. I use IMR4198 powder for my SKS.

Let me know how that works out. the British 303 and 7.62 are the same diameter (.310) There is a Japanese bullet that measures the same as well but I can't think of it at the moment. The .308 well measures .308

I think the japs are .310 if i remember correctly, i will consult my book when i return from mini vacay. I am in bend and nosler is located here so i go over to the little store they have here and get factory seconds on bullets for a really decent price. And oregon is also a no sales tax state so no shipping and no tax...i'll take that everyday allday. :D

Guess I'm going to have to check Nosler out then. Have a very tight budget these days and too many projects (hobbies).
