Hit them while they are on the ground, it's easier.

Somebody in Iran is reading this and just got on the phone to Alphabet, " hey great leader, I think I know how to solve our little problem..."

I think most leaders over there are scared to make any moves. Think about the leaders who attempted to get off the US dollar; they were many steps behind implementing anti-drone solutions.. Pretty sure getting off the dollar was the first step and also their last.

Problem is that they know about the drones now and have been smart enough to move underground. There would be serious issues involved in using them in the US.

Since drones operate at such an altitude that they are not visible to the eye, it better be a radar guided Mosin. (and they don't present much of a radar picture either)

That may work. The blast is a little bigger than an M44. I've fired it offhand too. First time my fiance stood back and watched me shoot it she swore and said 'so that's what an EMP feels like' I shot it once at a LGS that has his shooting bench near his house. First shot rattled the dishes and his wife thought something outside blew up.

does that come on 7.62x54R?

Best way to take out a drone is eliminate the pilot. Not possible for the enemy, but within CONUS....?

I am in no way condoning such activities, merely postulating on the tactical feasability of such.

- High-end wide-lense camera connected to a high-end computer (one of those gaming machines will do)
- Have a properly sighted Mosin, Flak-gun, etc (insert high-accuracy ballistics solution) mounted to (assuming self-built) & anchored well within a swivel platform
- High-end Range finder (or laser-based solution) with output which can connect to computer (to get our distance)
- Gear or hydraulic based pivot-system which is connected to the computer
- (the hardest part) An algorithm which properly calculates: ballistics trajectory in relation to target velocity, and an algorithm that pivots on all axes within our said platform in the proper scale of the calculations

Not to mention this algorithm will be processing images from a wide-lense camera, optimizing something like that would be a nightmare. However, if this could be designed, built, and implemented in under $3k you would have the cheapest anti-air ballistic Artifical Intelligence to date. If you wanted to be all the wiser you could image process with different means than a camera (sensors) to avoid light-pollution like smog or clouds...

This could be used to alert you on drones rather than aligning the shot for you (the latter would be easier for your life assurance, but harder to design and pay for, as well as vice-verca)

Like bocephus said, you're going to have a hell of a time spotting them. Might as well invest in image processing solutions.

wow, you sure your'e in the right forum ??

And just how would you measure the wind velocity, direction, and humidity through several layers of weather intervening between the muzzle and the target? Real ballistics don't work in real life like they do in a computer game. Then, if you are able work that set of problems, can you arrive at a disabling firing solution, with a .30 caliber bullet, before the drone can trigger a hellfire missle against you?

If the drone gets a picture of your smiling face, there are many options available to ruin your day. A 155mm artillery shell, fired from 30 miles away can make your house's grid coordinates a smoking hole in the ground.

Drones, like other problems, need to be dealt with at the ballot-box not the back yard bunker.

Thanks for the warning but i think the op was implying a SHTF scenario (and that was who my suggestion was for) Anyhow I wouldn't personally take this route. Although your suggestion about ballot box may have a float during peace time, I don't think would in war-time, op wouldnt be firing at drones if it werent.

I certainly have a tendency to overreact sarcastically on threads like this one.
But not today!

Today I will sing you a song about a well-done politician who thinks about using drones in and over the HOMELAND.....on what and why? Because he is getting scared about what he has already created and what he has already planned out for us all Because he cannot predict what does not support his plans? Ships have harbors, cars have garages and drones need to be maintained. And that is where the song stops....and the change of gun laws begins, no difference from 1775.....

Yes , SA1911 a1, it starts at the ballot, goes over the hump of socially paid voters that can think from Taco Bell to Dell Taco to the slackers that suck the life of this country and follow the lead for more handouts to vote again. Pouff went the freedom baloon!! ....and the rights set up by the Forefathers to protect us from people like Stalin and Hitler.

But I digress, and confess to be a libertarian democratic liberal with republican radical issues Californicator Nut :D :D :D
Now guess who I voted for.....Drones are our smallest issue!

The whole "drone" issue just doesn't make sense to me. For all of your life, you have been overflown by the most effective military aircraft ever built. If you are under 50 years old, you have always been overflown by satellites. My local police has been using helicopters as long as I remember for many law enforcement issues. If you have never been upset by the the B-52s or the F-15s in the air above America, why would you be upset about a drone?

They can drone spy all they want, but if a fuzzy pic of me taking a piss out in the yard shows up on TV I will know exactly who to blame , they aren't likely to see much else other that me working.

In the movies a revolver can fire 20 rounds without reloading :)

I think it might be the fact that the current attorney general has stated publicly and repeatedly that the government would be well withi their rights to use drone strikes on US citizens on US soil without evidence that citizen posing an imminent threat. I don't recall ever hearing that the police helicopters or B-52s were legally ok to strike me in my home if the current administration has something stuck in it's craw where I am concerned.
