I received spousal permission to place the order for another M1 Garand while we were driving to town. She's thinking to herself: "The first order really took a long time for him to prepare, notarize, decide which model to buy and send. This second one should surely take months." Unbeknownst to THE BOSS, I already had all the paperwork filled out in a stamped, addressed envelope. Just minutes after she gave the OK for me to place the order, I reached into my pocket pulled out the letter and popped it in the mailbox with a smile!
I'm a very bad man!
Incidentally, I'm getting another H&R service grade Garand. If it's in half as good a shape as my first, I'll be very pleased.
Cool As for the other thing I wouldn't know, when I wanted another Garand I just up and bought one, did it nine times before the prices got to the level of what my cheapness would allow me to pay Can't wait for the Garand porn to come
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

You are a very bad man!! But a well prepared man too. My UPS guy just bought two CMP Garands and is bringing them here to test out when he gets them. This should be fun. I knew I was creating a monster when he was delivering my stuff and I pulled the one I have out and placed it in his hands.
Nice like the time the wife said she needed to go to Lowe's, we went to one half way across the state. I had set a face to face deal up in the parking lot the day prior. She wasn't amused, but she got what she needed
I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.
Nice job AJ... Looking forward to seeing that H&R Service Grade.

Very Smooth!!

From one bad man to another; well done. My brother first got me interested in M1 Garands as he's got one hanging on his wall. When he placed it in my hands, it just felt good; like it belonged. Hard to describe. Sort of like the "ring" in Tolkein's books! As a 30-year Army veteran, I am skilled with the M16 / M4 rifle and have built up the associated "muscle memory" to use it with confidence but it just doesn't feel as good as the older rifles like the Garand or even the Mosin Nagant. Plastic just doesn't do anything for me.

I'll definitely take pictures as I've finally figured out photobucket. Ain't too smart with computer stuff!
Garands are a bit on the expensive side, so I won't be collecting dozens of them, but a pair of Garands is certainly within my means and most likely won't lose value if I every (foolishly) decide to sell one.
I picked mine up in the early 90's when they were not expensive, today with the government blocking the importation of a huge number of Garands from South Korea they are likely to stay expensive.

Let the race begin! Since I'm a long-time Army Reserve guy, your Air Force logo has raised the bar a bit on this competition. I'll report when I receive mine (with photos, of course). Let the best man win!

21 Years in the Guard, just retired last June Would have stayed in longer, but all those years of swiping my hotel room key at Annual Training / deployments took it's toll on my wrist!
Sorry, couldn't help myself, I have many Army friends that always ask me how my career in the chAir Force was going... I usually just gave them the room key injury story and asked them if their tent was air conditioned. LOL

You are so typical... Air Force!
Actually, I'm retiring THIS June and am hitting what we call in the Army my "Mandatory Removal Date". I actually enjoy the Army Reserves and would stay longer if they'd let me. After 30 years, I'm used to the abuse, the field time and sleeping in the mud. I haven't yet experienced this strange thing you mention: "hotel room key", but wish you the very best in your recovery.
No big deal. I'm making plans and will enjoy my free time.
