Re: Take a Knee, Fellas. Original Match 1898
Was there a problem with the barrel bands? Not sure I caught that one.
Thanks for the pics - now we know what they're supposed to look like! Congrats!!

Stunning beauty. An excellent find. This could be the year of the rares to come out. Knelt silent homage.

Not a problem with the bands. They were just installed backwards when I first got the rifle.cj1964 wrote:Was there a problem with the barrel bands? Not sure I caught that one.

Man, you could fall off a turnip truck & strike Gold. That Rabbit's foot sure is working.
But seriously... Another stellar find.

To late I was standing up. fell down and my wife found me on the floor with small Mosin's circling my head. Wow what a gun! The older the better.

I have seen evidence of these rifles only in the event that some of the parts were used during some repair or rebuild, but the only time I have seen a original complete rifle like yours was in books. What a jewel.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

The photo of the cleaning rod head also shows an excellent condition muzzle. I bet you that rifle sat in a rack, on it's buttplate for years without getting moved. Maybe sitting in a dark warm closet hoping to see the light of day eventually, hiding from bubba. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!
