Those are really sweet! Nice collection dou!

You all make this hard, I find something I want, then you post photos of something else. Then, I change my mind, but by then, someone posts yet another rifle!

Very nice collection!

i thought about changeing the stock on it but by the time i bought everything i needed i could sell it and buy what i wanted and let someone else play with it. the black stock just does not do anything for me but it was free.

Do you have to use stripper clips to load SKS's?
Someone at the gun show said if you don't use a stripper clip you need to fiddle with holding the bolt back. That is what turned me off of picking one up for 275. I didn't really want to start into collectible semi's anyway, but 275 seemed like an excellent deal for rifle's still dripping in cosmoline. He said something about aftermarket mags, but isn't that what was mentioned earlier about causing possible problems. Besides, I like them just the way they were built.

No, you certainly do not have to use stripper clips. Most people do not even have stripper clips because no one sells them with ammo off the shelf. Right now, the Military Yugo brass cased ammo in 1120 cases is the only one I am aware of with them.
Just pull the bolt clear back and it locks. Individually load up to the 10 round capacity.

If you go the detachable mag route, well, some do that. Usually have to work on the stock to make function half way decent. That is considered by a purist or collector as making it a bubba gun.

The gun you mention in Cosmo. Is it what, Russian, Romanian Chinese, etc. Sounds like it may be unfired since importation. If you at all can, get pictures of the right side of the Receiver and I can help you. Plus an overall pic .

Or,if you remember the details of it, PM me. This could be an SKS you need to consider very, very, closely! One dripping in Cosmo speaks well of it and are rare to find today. That price just screams for attention to me!

Don't tell me that now, Outlaw. They are clear back on the other side of the state

Seriously, he said something about soldiers using stripper clips to load and the slide coming forward would knock the clip out of the way. That if you would singly press a cartridge in the bolt would want to release every time, so you had to hold it back if you loaded one at a time.
They were Yugos with the grenade launcher sight. I think i spoke of them in my gun show thread.

Ok, no big deal if a Yugo. But the other stuff you were told is false on all SKS.

Thanks for letting me know. I hate walking around with false information in my head, it always rises to the top because I was told that first :redfaced:

If you are in a super hurry you can leave the stripper in place after you have pushed the cartridges in and the bolt will knock it out of the way when it closes. Perhaps that is what the seller meant. My LGS was selling SKS strippers for $10 for like two dozen. I bought a bag, and use them whenever I take it out. They work quite well. They are marked with a 31 in a circle. The woman at the store told me they were chinese, but I don't know.

That sounds right, millman, but I'm positive he said something about was a pain loading them one at a time and having to hold the bolt back manually. Maybe if you push the cartridge in too far the bolt will release? It was something :vconfused: At any rate, it was the dealbreaker that kept me looking.
