Re: Thought I'd share...
Hey,
Not sure about the diff Arsenals that made the Security Forces SKS, mine is 1441 arsenal and it has a screwed in barrel, so not sure if that is more rare or not for a security forces sks,,, but it looks just like the one on the bottom of the pic, with a slightly darker stock,,, but like i said I love it and its the most accurate sks ive shot to date, even moreso than my buddies Russian tula.
Regards,
AL

Chi-Coms are very accurate AL My recent purchase type 56 shooter is nailing bowling pins at 300 yrds. Of course not every shot, and never the first shot, but adjusting accordingly always gets me there.
Sorry but ill have to leave it to the SkS godfathers to answer your rearity question.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Very nice group! The bottom Type 56 has the nicest stock I've seen on a Chinese SKS!

It's not Chinese. That's his Romanian. And that is a nice stock for any Romy.RMXC51 wrote:Very nice group! The bottom Type 56 has the nicest stock I've seen on a Chinese SKS!

6 Russians, 2 Yugos and 3 Chinese. The bottom one is in fact the /016\ Chinese... I don't have a Romy. The Romy belongs to "Bareassmeagain".OLD OUTLAW wrote:It's not Chinese. That's his Romanian. Wish I could trade you my '59 Romanian SKS for a nice SVT
I know, it's a REAL big NO NO, but I can wish, wishing is not illegal.

Re: Thought I'd share...
Wishing I could trade you too. You guys deserve the SVT40s. That being said, I can always import/export a Alby or Romy from the US, its the $175 each in import cost, plus the other fees that hurts. I'll just have to find the right ones.Greasemonkey wrote:Wish I could trade you my '59 Romanian SKS for a nice SVTI know, it's a REAL big NO NO, but I can wish, wishing is not illegal.
While I know "bubba'ing" is bad, my Polish wz49 is near complete. Don't worry, it is all reversable, just a stock replacement on a force matched, highly refurbed 56 Tula. I still have the 2x forced matched stock to go with it. Proper Polish four slotted hand guard arrived today. Couldn't resist having at least a visual representation of what Poland had for an SKS. Don't ever envision myself being lucky enough to get a real one. They should be at the top of the SKS Unobtainium List.
If someone can tell me how to make the picture fit the page that would be great. Other wise just adjust your monitors to 75%.....

I meant the lowermost Type 56 in his grouping.OLD OUTLAW wrote:It's not Chinese. That's his Romanian. And that is a nice stock for any Romy.RMXC51 wrote:Very nice group! The bottom Type 56 has the nicest stock I've seen on a Chinese SKS!

Ugh, I shouldve snagged a few before all this BS in the gun industry. Could kick myself in the ass now. These are some of the prettiest SKS rifles I have ever seen

Re: Thought I'd share...
Nice
, Not to threadjack, but I thought you may like this one. I got an odd marked one for you, have you seen one marked like this in Canada? It's a 55 or 56 Russian, even has Russian proofing stamps like my other Russian SKS's. The 4 digit serial, Norinco import stamp and Chinese stock and sling throw alot of people off, and numbers are matching also. One of the well known collectors said there is a chance it found it's way to China from the Vietnam service period, Russian aid to the North, as there is rust pitting below the wood. It's a Soviet-Sino SKS
and far as I know, there are less than 10 documented so far.

Re: Thought I'd share...
Haven't seen one but yours looks like it went through the same refurb process as both of my /26\ guns. My sino doesn't have the Russian star. Serial number is S with 4 digits and a faint /26\ to the right of the serial number.Greasemonkey wrote:Nice, Not to threadjack, but I thought you may like this one. 1954 Tula SKS... Non-Refurbed... All Matching... Single Digit Serial Number... Not counting the two Russian Alphabet letters in front of the number...
I won't mention what I bought it for, as I know that is a sore point.

Gotta raz ya
, wish we had those opportunities, especially now
. Any luck on the search for an Albanian or Romanian???
Have to find the right one, if I'm going to the trouble of hunting one down to export/import I want it matching an looking fairly decent. I realize they sometimes were pretty rough. Don't want anything refinished though either.
Need to find a way to get it limited to a 5 round capacity. Stupid Canadian gun laws. If it isn't already pinned or limited, chances are pretty good it will get drilled through the floor of the mag and riveted, which I don't want. Looking at making up a riveted on piece to attach to the follow to create a leg that will stop the follower at 5 rounds. Trick is getting it installed before import.
