Post it.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Why weld over the cleanout hole?racerguy00 wrote:Early Chatellerault. Keeps getting better.
I also found two "circle P marks" on the receiver that I found on Ted's site that confirm the Chatellerault receiver, one of them has a star over the P.
Thanks racerguy00.

The (p)'s are so small they're kind of hard to photograph.

So every receiver looks the same.

I once leaned against a table at a flea market, something jabbed me in the side and it was the barrel of a M28/30 sticking out over the edge of a table:) Yes I bought it, and I still have it, shot many rounds through it, and it shoots very well.

Never bought a "gun" at a flea market!

I can't remember, but for some reason I seem to picture a 1935 on there, I have bought over 100 firearms at flea markets, most in the 80's and 90's, at one time it was common for me to see 50-60 milsurps alone, and be able to cherry pic what I wanted, now if I see one .22 rifle it's a good day.

Last show I bought that Remington autoloader, and the H&R pump shotgun, that was a good show, but with what's been going on I suspect a dry summer for firearms of any kind.

Guy's, I posted this on another forum and one member mentioned that he hadn't seen any "recapture dragoons", I don't believe I have either.
I'm guessing most of the recaptures are later production rifles anyone seen, know about or have pictures of earlier ones?

I saw one that was 'D' marked with no SA or 41 stamp so it may not have been one for sure. It was really 'iffy'. Late twenties date. That was 2 years ago or more. I'll try to see what I can find.

It's packed away right now and it would take too long to get it out and clean it off, I have a few other projects in the works just now. I am sorting the pics on photobucket, something that will take another 17 days, if I find the 28/30 pics I will post thembb91 wrote:Pic.s?Junk Yard Dog wrote:I can't remember, but for some reason I seem to picture a 1935 on there,

Thanks TopperT! I'm glad you appreciate this one, I just lucked into it on an online sale.TopperT wrote:What a fantastic rifle to own. Your a very lucky man. Congratulations on a wonderful addition to any collection!
Beats an auction almost anyday, except maybe when you can find those mismarked/mislabled pieces.
