The one that got away

Post by catcracker »

My last trip to Arizona, I found a really nice Romanian M69 Trainer. I would say overall condition to be about 85%. Slightly better than the one I already have from AIMs. It was just missing a magazine. So on my returned visit today, with a magazine, and had them check to see that the rounds chambered ok, and everything worked. All was good. Just had to do the paperwork, pay $75 dollars, and all would be good. Then...
:angry4:
No out of state sales allowed to residents of Ohio!! They do flat rate delivery to FFL only. So another $50 shipping, plus some other fee, plus my FFLs fee of $15, bla bla bla. Not worth it.
So disappointed. Thought I had a good deal going.
So is there a reason for this post? Not really. Just crying outloud. :cry1:

C&R sure would have come in handy there...

Well shit, get the C&R.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I could not get out of the $50 shipping. An increase in price of 67%.
I do have a C&R license. But it is not over 50 years old. So I don't think that helps. It was a 1980. Am I right on that? The worse case on a transfer would have been $15.

It does not have to be over 50 years old, it just has to be on the BATFE's C&R OK list, and I think it is. Just like all the 1960's SKS rifles, the 70's M39's, and so on.

Wow. Learn something everyday. I got the big books from the Govn't the other day. Guess I should have looked through it better.
Thanks

Always read the small print very carefully, this goes double for anything you get from the government.

If I have my C&R license with me, does it still have to be sent by mail/UPS/FedEx to the address on the C&R license. My license, drivers license, and address all match. I don't know why it would have to be delivered to the address if I am the guy on the license and on the ID.

If the book says you can use it that way then you can, if there is any question you can call the BATFE and ask, but the real problem is that many sellers just don't know, or understand the C&R rules and are afraid of doing something wrong so they will do nothing.
