I haven't ordered any yet. My local indoor range tells me if a magnet does not stick to the projectile, I can use it at their range. Can you do this for me an let me know? :vconfused:
Yeah sure.
I'll look this evening.
OK - I didn't remember last night, but I did tonight.
Sorry man, but...
You,

Thanks for checking! I can't believe that either! Oh well. Maybe I'll order some anyway. I'll let you know. :vsad:

Another forum had pics of a round cut in half. It's just a jacket over a (very thin) hollow metal or plastic core.
Nothing much to it.

From what I've read they have a steel core (Rod). Guess it was used to penetrate light armor.

It was used because steel is cheaper than lead, copper, or brass, and the commies were cheap bastards from the get go. It's a mild steel core, real AP rounds are much harder.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Not the training ammo.

The regular stuff is like JYD said, soft steel, cheap.
AP had a black tip.

It's nice to have some of this on hand; great for introducing shooters new to service-rifle calibers without immediately making them recoil shy. as for hunting small game, even if they complied with local laws, I wouldn't recommend them. Now, if you could somehow fill them with #12 dust shot, ala Glaser Blue Slug...... Or #6 shot suspended in epoxy, ala Cor-Bon Mag-Safe.... :big shock: BIG energy dump!

Basically the 46 gr. hollow bullet is a bore plug to allow semi and full auto weapons to function with this training ammo.
