A Zombie at the door......
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I never have cash to buy in bulk, heck, I've never even owned a spam can for my Mosin's, used to just grab a paper bundle at the local sporting goods store from time to time for $5. Don't have a lot of x54 on hand, but every time Dunns sporting goods here or the Buchheit's farm and home had sales on ammo that I use I'd buy a box or two. They used to have the CCI BLazer .22 on an end aisle display, $1.99 for a box of 50 so every time I was in there I'd just toss a couple in the cart. I' ve got a .50 cal ammo can full now of the 50 round boxes, not sure how many that'd be. I'm at around 1k of 9mm and x39, used to buy a box of both every time I was in walmart last summer. Glad I did, too. Just picked up a 12 gauge, glad there's still ammo for it out there so now I'm back to picking up a box wherever I run across it for a decent price. Just got the gun yesterday, so only have about 300 rounds so far...
Bought a jug of Pyrodex and 300 primers yesterday too, just gonna shoot my .50 till the nuts run out of money...

They will run out of product before they run out of money.

Re: SKS and ammo.
It's pretty well dry around here. Ran into a feller in Buchheits Farm and Home yesterday that was on an ammo search trip down this side of the state. He was from Illinois...I was nice and told him that Dunn's has Blazer brass 9mm for $13.59 and just got cases of it in. Of course I'd already been there...
I'm considering buying the .22 mag cylinder for the Heritage, that's about the only ammo still at walmart.

I have plenty of 7.62x39, 54r, and 25. I totally overlooked .22lr. What the hell was I thinking
Now my main zombie gun, my Marlin 60 will be out of ammo in about 1000rds. I actually used to have more, but took .22lr for granted. Forgive me...........

Re: SKS and ammo.
Zombies can be taken with a substitute like a axe, but what about the other dreaded villain, stress? Stress relief is my #1 objective when shooring 22's:P
Re: SKS and ammo.
I don't think this is correct and that is why the panic may appear irrational. We have gotten some serious ammo restrictions in NY. For anyone who has forgotten, NY is one of the more populous states. There are a half dozen anti-gun states that could pass similar legislation, even if nothing passes at the Federal level. Those states include CA and IL, both of which are very large states. With the types of regulations passed in NY, and proposed elsewhere, purchasing ammunition will become an expensive, time consuming process that is well worth avoiding by stocking up now.mogunner wrote:I don't think it's panic buying anymore. It's become plain that any gun restrictive legislation other than perhaps extended capacity magazines will face an uphill battle and more than likely fall on it's face.
So consider if you lived in one of those states, as about a quarter of the US population does, and were facing, 1) no Internet sales, 2) a NICS check every time you purchased ammo at an LGS, 3) new taxes on ammo, 4) limits on how many rounds you could purchase at a time, 5) bans on certain calibers of ammo, etc. Would you buy ammo now, ahead of those restrictions?
Obviously if the same motivation hits every gun owner in the affected states simultaneously, you're going to feel it nationwide.
