i don't know if the aim surplus ones are real , you will have to wait on the mosin experts on that one , but generaly real 91/30 snipers cost about $800 to $1000 .....there are mostly fakes out there ......

I see your disappointment.
The Classic, AIM & Mitchell's supposed "PU SNIPER" rifles are officially hunting rifle imports direct from Molot of Russia. Who is Molot? They are a company that does commercial refurbs & from a collectability standpoint, the rifles are not arsenal refurbished by a Country & it's arsenal. Therefore the historical "Military" aspect has been broken. Since Russia is not allowed to export "Military Surplus" to the U.S. Molot is an end around which is both good & bad. Good in that we can exploit the loophole & receive former Soviet arms that were previously unobtainable. But also bad in that officially, these are reclassified as "Hunting Rifles", not Military Surplus. What's the difference?? Right now, very little.

The problem lies with time. The guns that Molot is shipping in right now from what we can see are basically untouched by Molot. For the most part they are good Surplus stock & really need nothing right out of the crate. They are complete & in many cases already real deal, numbers matching & ready to go. They stamp them, toss a Hunting rifle booklet in the box & send it here. But imagine them doing this for say ten years or so, the supply is dwindling, quality is falling, they become more intrusive by taking standard 91/30's, mounting repro mounts & scopes, tossing in a hunting rifle booklet & claiming them to be of the same quality & provenance as the ones coming in right now. Remember, they are a Commercial company intent on making profits; Not a Military preparing a rifle to defend a Nation. That's the problem.

This same issue has arisen with the Century imports. The first PU Snipers Century was importing were almost always the real deal. They acquired actual, complete rifles, did nothing to them but stamp an import mark on them & ship it. Over time, they began to create snipers from standard stock & reproduction parts without claiming them to be "Fake". So we as collectors are always in doubt of ALL Century PU Sniper rifles & will be as well with the Molot.

The RGuns PU Snipers? They are fully documented, real deal, 100% real. You will never have that "grey" area with them & they will stand the test of time.

Are we saying the Molot are outright bad?? Not really, we just have to let time sort it out so for now think of it as the Surplus collector community is still in deliberation on this case . I hope this helps.

I hope that helped.

My recommendation to anyone still intent on buying a Molot rifle is to retain ALL sales receipts, shipping papers from who you ordered from with dates & anything else you can save & make sure it stays with the rifle even after you sell it. Those documents may not mean much right now but think what it will mean 20 years from now?
