Get them before they vanish

Re: No more Mosins?
We just weathered the, "The Perfect Storm" in regards to firearms. We had the negative results from the elections, Newtown shooting, Mayan calendar tinfoilhattery, and Christmas shopping happen back to back. Fast forward to the recent gun control legislation being submitted/passed.
Each of these individually would have caused a run or dip in inventory of firearms. But together.....well, it will be months before the supply chain can catch up.
I'm also betting a few retailers are keeping some stock of these rifles to sell at a later date-maybe when the AK's and AR's are restricted in certain areas. These will probably be put out at higher price, as many more people may be looking for a bolt-action, centerfire rifle with just a five round magazine.
This is all just total speculation on my part.

New gun laws in N.Y. really suck!Knuckledragger wrote:We just weathered the, "The Perfect Storm" in regards to firearms. Yes, we know, but that is nothing new here.

I believe the mags will have to be permanently altered so no more than 7 rounds can be loaded into them, similar to Canada's 5 round rule.jayrocka1200 wrote:Fyi it's not illegal to own ak's and ar's ...it's illegal to have more than one feature on them and illegal to have a clip that holds more than 10 rounds and if it does hold 10 rounds you can only put 7 rounds in it at one time.MarksmanTim wrote:I can see the prices of bolt guns including mosins and other milsurps going up in NY now that it's illegal to own an AR, AK, etc. Good news is they exempted C&R rifles, bad news is they are bound to become very popular and with that comes high prices!

Better solution is not to do anything stupid that will get you caught with them and preserve them for your kids and grandkids should they ever need them. This is why cosmoline was invented, use it.

Yes! I mean, well good idea if I owned any of those evil rifles or magazines (or should I say "clips"?)Junk Yard Dog wrote:Better solution is not to do anything stupid that will get you caught with them and preserve them for your kids and grandkids should they ever need them. Which basically means in order to use it in anything close to original form it will be illegal. If I owned one of those type of rifles I wouldn't register it either. Feel free to call me paranoid, but registration comes right before confiscation.jayrocka1200 wrote:Fyi it's not illegal to own ak's and ar's ...it's illegal to have more than one feature on them and illegal to have a clip that holds more than 10 rounds and if it does hold 10 rounds you can only put 7 rounds in it at one time.MarksmanTim wrote:I can see the prices of bolt guns including mosins and other milsurps going up in NY now that it's illegal to own an AR, AK, etc. Good news is they exempted C&R rifles, bad news is they are bound to become very popular and with that comes high prices!
Back on topic: I agree that distributors or maybe the importers are holding back for sure. My opinion is that the supply was dwindling, but now Molot found a way to import straight from Russia. I think we are soon to see larger quantities of more than one model of Mosin start appearing again. Once that source dries up, I feel will be the end...

I faxed century arms my c&r but they never gave me access. I need to call them and ask why, but keep forgetting.qz2026 wrote:Cool. I just hope it doesn't all dry up before I get my C&R. SOG and Century won't even let me see what they have got until they receive my license.

A buddy of mine was trying to order some cosmoline to "preserve" some things for later. So he calls Brownells because he had bought their stuff before. Guess what, they are currently sold out of cosmoline.Junk Yard Dog wrote:Better solution is not to do anything stupid that will get you caught with them and preserve them for your kids and grandkids should they ever need them.
