Happy day! Ciener .22lr conversion bolt!

Post by Sgt. Rob »

So given the current crisis in 5.56x45/.223 ammo, I have not shot my Windham Weaponry AR much at all. So the day after all the insanity started I ordered a Ciener .22lr conversion bolt for it and it finally arrived yesterday! Wyatt and I look forward to wringing it out on Friday. I know some partners at work have both the Ciener or the CMMG version and like them alot, but until I can test mine out, does anybody else here have one that they can comment on? I'll post up a range report with pics this weekend letting you know what I think. Right now I am stoked that I can shoot my AR alot while I bide my time waiting for all the AWB nonsense to come to its conclusion.

Congratulations, I'm still waiting for my CMMG Kit to be back in stock at Bass Pro. The extra mag I ordered has been shipped but still no bolt for me.

Well, the Ciener .22lr conversion bolt proved to be very reliable today. The very first magazine of ten rounds (which is all I have for now) had to FTE's. After that she seemed to break in and fed about 50 rounds of 40gr Fiochi and Remington round nose ammo perfectly. After that Wyatt and I ran about another 50rds of Fedral and Remington hollowpoints through with no mishap as well. Temperatures were cold today, around 10 deg or so, but the sun was out. I would have shot more but work interferred with my day today so time was short before it got too dark. And continously reloading 1 ten round mag with cold fingers did not help either! Hope to do more tomorrow with some serious target time. As for today even Wyatt was minute of soda can at 50ft. So far I give this system a  !

10....ouch....good to hear it's working, my one and only experiment with a .22 conversion kit for the AR was a disaster. A surplus Air Force kit that required it to be soaked in oil to function at all, I unloaded it fast.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I've looked at these several times and they always have bad feedback. Of course I didn't know anyone making comments. You have me rethinking this option.

I have enough to last my lifetime at current rates of use, been buying the odd can or two of .22 here and there as the mood struck me, or I saw a sale.

I've enough .22lr to last me a few years of normal plinking.

When checking these out I read a few problems posted (mostly with the CMMG kit) but the overwhelming reviews were positive. I will post on this as I continue to use mine. 8-)
