Jump in ammo prices

Post by Captk »

I had recently ordered (3 weeks ago) some of the wolf 148 gr 7.62x54 500 rnd cases for $150 + ship. I went back to order more and they were sold out. I had also purchased a 880 rnd case of Bulgarian. Both were sold out. I got an email today that they were back in stock so i went to add another case of the Wolf. The price is now $200 per case and the Bulgarian went from $139 to $169. I expected an increase but not a 20 - 25% increase in price. The increase was at the Armory. BTW, AIM still has the Wolf for $155 by the case and SG has it for $162 if your a club member, free shipping through 12/31/12.

Yup, The Armory pulled a Cheaper than Dirt, everything went up, quick. 30rd mag prices doubled in price in the span of just a few hours. Only a few vendors have fought the urge to raise prices, but like everything that will soon change. True blue definition of supply vs. demand.

A Standard Operating Procedure for sellers in a panic buy scenario. If you need it, buy it & thank your lucky Stars you got it cheap & when you did. Cheap you say? You may not think so right now but when you look back next year it will be. I remember when you could get a crate of 880rnds of 7.62x54r for under $70, 1,000rnds of 7.62x39 Wolf for $100 & so on. The price will not go back down again.... Buy it now.

Think of it like stocks, yes you pay more now but, average out the low price of a case you got a while back with the new more expensive case. It doesn't sound quite as bad then. :D

Between the Wolf, Silver/Brown Bear and Bulgarian I am at roughly 4K of 7.62X54. I am in NY and decided to sell my "Assault Weapons" with the threat of banning them. I used some of the funds to buy 4 M39's and the ammo. Now selling off some of my 308 stockpile, maybe another case of Wolf.

You need to remember which vendors want to take advangage of you. It doesn't hurt to remind them that you remember. These guys can't be satisified with making mega bucks on the tremendous sale volume, the greed kicks in. Everything that they have in stock now, they made a profit on on the prices they were selling at two weeks ago.......

I am used to that kind of stuff. Let a hurricane bear down on the Gulf Coast and you will see gasoline and generators jump a 20% or more, even though it is against the law.

I saw those increases yesterday at The-Armory. Our sponser Cope's Dist has the Bulgarian 440rd tins for $79.99 and $9.95 shipping. They haven't increased prices. I believe the shipping is $9.95 no matter how many you buy too so keep that in mind when you price them elsewhere. http://www.copesdistributing.net/bulgar ... -5863.html

There's no Wolf right now but I'm looking for new stuff to add, but here's a list of some other ammo. http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=7.62x54R

Thanks for the link. You can also try ammoseek.com, another good ammo engine. I'll see what's available.

He listed a deal yesterday for 880rds/2 tins with opener and no crate for $164.95 shipped. There was 150+ and he limited it to 5 per order and it sold out by the end of the day. Once he gets back from vacation on the 1st he's going to turn everything back on.

yeah it's amazing how fast he's selling ammo, I have 2 tins coming from him that I ordered around the 22nd when there was about 140 or so and it was newly posted, they were gone in less than a day. I definately recommend checking frequently as his prices are still fair.

If I was in the market for some 7.62x54r that would be the deal I would go for. Buy a few crates for $9.95 shipping??? With today's rates that's a bargain. :vcool: :vcool: :vcool:

I would buy some myself if I wasn't busy paying all the holiday bills.

I have a 880 crate of the Bulgarian. I prefer to shoot non corrosive, just a personal choice. SG had the Wolf in stock yesterday with a $25 off coupon so I threw 2 more cases in my cart. It came out to $159 each shipped with the coupon.
I do get emails from Copes and use them when they have what I need. I do believe in supporting the sponsors. I'm concerned that ammo may not come back to the current price levels so I am buying what I can afford to now. I sold 2 battle packs of Hirt last night and then ordered the Wolf. I have enough ammo now at right around 5K. Next purchases will be another Mosin.

Armslist had wolf .223 500 rounds for $300.
That's over 2 times what it was 2 weeks ago.
30 round magazines that were $12-15 each are $50 now.
