A friend and I each purchased a Yugo Zastava M57 pistol from Widener's recently. My friend's gun has the captive recoil spring assembly but mine does not. The recoil spring on my pistol looks like that of every other Tokarev variant except for the M57. Because this is my only Tokarev pistol, I can't tell whether the spring and associated parts are really the same as all the others.
Does anyone know whether this is a factory variation? My printed reference material is totally silent on this subject.
Thanks in advance for any information or ideas.

Re: Zastava M57 Recoil Spring
I know the M57 has the articulating rod that goes all the wat through the spring from one end to the other as the polish I know it only goes about half way. Not sure about the other Toks Hope this helps. Youtube yugo M57 dissambly like wise Polish ttc and you should be able to see the right part for ea pistol.
The top spring is for the Polish Tok and the Bottom is the m57 yugo.

Re: Zastava M57 Recoil Spring
I found this post with a parts breakdown of the M57. Now the guy the posted it said he modified the parts breakdown of an M88 to make this so keep that in mind. http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread. ... ts-Diagram
Just found this too. http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewto ... 88&t=79377
This is the M88 diagram in downloadable PDF form. From what I'm reading it's the modern version of the M57. http://www.eaacorp.com/Manuals/M88-Manual.pdf

Re: Zastava M57 Recoil Spring
Thanks for the information, gentlemen. The recoil spring on my pistol looks like the Polish one. I then infer that it is identical to the Russian original.
The unusual spring arrangement does not seem to have degraded the gun's functioning. I'll post a report after I get to shoot it some more.
