Chinese sks chrome honor guard rifle??
Chinese sks chrome honor guard rifle??
Here are some pics i took off my cell phone of a rifle a women i know wants to sell. I think it's a chinese sks chrome honor guard rifle. The pics are not great but i did notice the stock has some cracks and the cross bolt in the stock is missing. Everything else is there and in working order and the bolt cycles fine. Other than the crack in the stock and the cross bolt missing it's in great shape. Any ideas what something like this is worth?? Rare??

That is certainly interesting. Do you have any clues of its authenticity?

These were imported I think in '94 and not many came in, then Omega sold some in '10. As to rarity, the original lot is very rare, I don't think the ones Omega sold came with the bayonet. We will need some clearer photos and photos of the left side receiver markings to determine truly what you have.
The big kicker now, you state the crossbolt and nut is missing, do not fire it until it is replaced or stock damage will continue to get worse. That bolt is designed to help disperse the weapons recoil evenly through the stock, without it the wood will continue cracking and could ultimately destroy it making it unusable.
And yes, that counts some against the value to a collector, one with a damaged stock won't be worth as much, but the rarity does help keep the value.

I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.

Do the stock numbers match the rest of the gun ?
Re: Chinese sks chrome honor guard rifle??
As far as i could see all the numbers match on the gun. I don't know if i'll be able to get better pics as she is going for surgery and will be laid up for a few weeks. I'm thinking it wouldn't have been bought in 10' because i believe her father passed away last year and most of the other guns he has are older. I'll see what i can come up with...

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: Chinese sks chrome honor guard rifle??
That's a new one on me, every GI I know who brought home an SKS just tossed it in the closet after they got done showing it around when they rotated back to the world 40 years ago. Ammo was not as common here back then as it is today for AK's and SKS's, there just was very little use for these rifles .
