New Izhevsk

Post by Hoagy000 »

I purchased an 1943 Izhevsk yesterday and it has a bent bolt all matching numbers and in almost new pristene condition..Th e serial #'s all match all pieces bolt, bbl, trigger section, plate underneath, and butt....the wood is like new....however I cant tell whether or not its a n ex-sniper....I pulled the bolt back and didnt see any welds or marks......it looks to be new never issued because the wood has barely no marks or dents other than proof marks. the :D best thing was it was only $175.00 out the door....could this really be a gem in diguise? or just wishfull thinking? :D

I would love to see pictures (hint hint). Is there a better feeling than buying a new gun?

No idea how to do that. Probably by private message. Could you take a pic of the whole rifle on it's side not showing serial number?

Awesome I look forward to checking it out. The Mosins are generally refurbished so well that they are practically new (not the type 53s though lol). We all love seeing new ones. :Drool1:

Nice 91/30 , Soviet serial numbers were deliberately mixed around to confuse the enemy as to production totals, they can start a run at 23,000, and end it at 102, no rhyme or reason that we know of.

so what do you think is an original bent bolt never issued as you cab can see there are no drillings inside the chamber or redone for a scope mount

If the rifle came out of the dealers Mosin crate with that bent bolt then it's a reused sniper bolt. However, if the rifle has had American owners before you then one of them probably put it on there. Sniper bent bolt handles are reproduced.

I used to get all hung up on the serial number thing (posting it). But it is a bunch of garbage. There is not even one piece of evidence anywhere where any one scammed anyone using the serial number. There is a ton of rumors and stories of such, but not one case of it ever happening. Not for a fact. I post all my rifles and if you want to see a close up of the "butt", I can take that for you too! :chuckles:
