M-69 feeding problem
M-69 feeding problem
I finally cleaned up the M-69 I received from Tiger Imports...It was loaded with grease and it took about 4 hours to get it cleaned up...I tried it out and can not get it to load...I tried a different mag, same problem...I did research and found that it could be just dirty, but I am sure I got all the dirt/grease out...I tried the bending the mag lip thing and still have not found the sweet spot...Is there anything else I could do to get this pretty rifle to feed properly...just thought I may have missed something in my internet search...If not, guess I will just keep messing with it and do my best to figure it out...will say tho, I shot it and it is really a accurate rifle, just really would like to have a 5 shot instead of the 1 I have to deal with now...Not that a single shot is not ok, just hate to have something that does not function correctly...

Re: M-69 feeding problem
Without the rifle in front of me it's difficult to say, but you are probably on the right track with the feed lips, reminds me of Enfield feeding troubles with bent magazines.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: M-69 feeding problem (FINALLY RESOLVED!)
Since I posted this problem with feed issues I have worked till I was frustrated quite a few times...sit the rifle down...sometimes for a day, sometimes hours...I finally have been able after cleaning the bolt 4 more times, and countless bending of both magazines, have been able to run both mags at least 4 times without experience any mis-feeds...I did have one mis-feed on the fifth mag, but believe it was my fault from a short stroke...I have the rifle now functioning a lot better and am content with it...I surely wanted to give up at times...reason I am posting this is that even tho I am not at all experienced with gunsmithing at all...Persistence did prevail...So, if you have a problem with a firearm, read all you can, and do not give up too soon...It is very satisfying when your hard work pays off..
And in retrospect, a good way to learn about your firearm and sorta fun in a irritating kind of way

I agree, you read and ask questions and you can succeed. And it is a challenge. I enjoy cleaning and taring my guns down and learning as much about them, as I do going to the range or to the woods.Koada wrote:Since I posted this problem with feed issues I have worked till I was frustrated quite a few times...sit the rifle down...sometimes for a day, sometimes hours...I finally have been able after cleaning the bolt 4 more times, and countless bending of both magazines, have been able to run both mags at least 4 times without experience any mis-feeds...I did have one mis-feed on the fifth mag, but believe it was my fault from a short stroke...I have the rifle now functioning a lot better and am content with it...I surely wanted to give up at times...reason I am posting this is that even tho I am not at all experienced with gunsmithing at all...Persistence did prevail...So, if you have a problem with a firearm, read all you can, and do not give up too soon...It is very satisfying when your hard work pays off..And in retrospect, a good way to learn about your firearm and sorta fun in a irritating kind of way

Re: M-69 feeding problem
I don't know how I missed this thread. I've never had problems with feeding on mine but I'm seeing a few reports of feed problems. It's a common issue from what I've seen until you get it corrected. It might be associated with either the magazine not being held up tight enough into the rifle or the feed ramp and/or chamber might have a burrs. Read through this post and you'll find a few pointers that some with this problem have come up with to fix it. http://www.ak47.net/forums/t_2_217/2269 ... tml&page=1

Re: M-69 feeding problem
Everybody seems to be blaming the magazines. A friend of mine just got one of the recent releases and he polished the firing pin and took off all the burrs and sharp edges and it solved all his problems. It isn't always the mag.

Re: M-69 feeding problem
I had some problems with the magazines stamped "Made in Taiwan" that I got aftermarket, the ones that came with either rifle, not stamped on the bottom worked fine. Seems like the catch for the magazine was a hair short letting the mag slip down slightly after inserted.
I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.

Re: M-69 feeding problem
Yeah these have a free floating firing pin. I think one person in that thread said he had one that was bowed in the center. It stands to reason if the firing pin sticks out after firing it would cause the next round to not be fed straight. Liberty Tree Collectors has the cleaning kits for these that has the punch to remove the pin that holds the firing pin in as well as the front sight tool. He also has spare firing pins. I bought the kit as well as 2 spare firing pins last year. I have the original magazine as well as the Tiawan made ones and they all work fine. The Taiwan magazines have a catch that's not stamped out as prominent as the original but the only problems I've seen with those is the tend to drop out of the rifle if the magazine latch isn't as tight as it could be or is worn. There's a comparision in the thread I made on my rifle.Longcolt44 wrote:Everybody seems to be blaming the magazines. Re: M-69 feeding problem
Glad to hear your problem is solved. I bought a model 69 sometime back when I was working on the Marksmanship program with the Boy Scouts. It made a fine training rifle till the magazine failed. I was unable to locate a magazine for it and put the rifle up. One day looking through my goodie box I found a 10 round magazine from an old Squires Bingham rifle It fit the mag well just fine and so I silver soldered a catch on the front and now have a 10 shot mag!The door was opened and since I have found the average price of the 69 mag is $35.00 I am looking for mags I can modify and cheaper than the 69 mag. It is a simple mod if the mag fits the dimensions of the 69. have fun.

Liberty Tree Collectors has them for $24. I bought 8 of them last year and they work great. https://www.libertytreecollectors.com/p ... category=5Bingo wrote:Glad to hear your problem is solved.
