Need Suggestions and Pics for .22 Trainer

Post by catcracker »

I'm always learning new things on this forum.

Recently, someone posted some threads on a Romanian 1969 .22 trainer. I've researched them a little, and they seem pretty cool. Not to mention inexpense to shoot.

There is a gun show coming up this weekend in Columbus Ohio. My list of things to look for are a swiss k31, 91/30s, and the Romanian M1969. Are there any more trainers that should be considered? (.22) If there are, a pic and a small reason why you like the trainer would be helpful. I could really use a cheap to shoot, little shooter.

Thanks
Cat

I have the M1969 and love it. Especially for what AIM has them for right now, $119, you can't beat them. Here's a few others you might consider. I know nothing about them.

Have just acquired a m-69 and after a little bit of work got it to feed well, for 119.00 I consider this rifle a steal...I really like mine and actually had a couple of guys at the range shooting their 10/22's that were impressed that I could hold my own with them even out to 100 yrds with the sights...and wanted to buy mine!! I only wish I could afford another one just to have around for a back-up/parts gun..

.22 trainers are great, below are what I have, there are many more types out there, I've been watching locally for a French MAS 45, but nothing as of yet :vsad:
First is my Czech made ZKM468, great little single shot. More of a garden type rifle, but made by Brno. Very smooth and accurate. My daughters learned on this one
Polish WZ48, another single shot. These can be found and can be pricey, check the chamber area for burrs/damage from dry firing, and make sure it is complete. Spare parts are almost nonexistant.
Erma Werke EM1 carbine 22, This one is a blast, matches weight and size of M1 Carbine. Magazines are expensive, they like the high powered .22 rounds. The rear sight is commonly missing and very expensive to replace. With the negatives out of the way, it is really a good shooter, as accurate as an M1 and this one has a true bayonet lug installed :D

Two M1969 Romainian trainers, one with a red stock, the other in blond. The red stock has the hard to find scope mount made for this rifle. Great little fun rifle to start with, especially at the current prices, for a while they were $150+

The final two are more commercial than milsurp, but trainer like.
Mossberg Model 144lsb, it's more or less a commercial copy of the highly coveted Mossberg US Model 44 training rifle. Great peep sight set up and highly accurate.
Norinco JW-15, I included this one because it's basically like a mini Mauser action in a sporterized stock. It's based off the Czech CZ 452, even the mags are interchangeable between the CZ and Norinco. Norinco also made an exact K98(a member here has one) trainer based off the same action as the JW-15. This is one for a $90 rifle blew me away, it will give the Mossberg a real good run for the money accuracy wise.

Hope it helps some and gives you a little better idea of the styles of trainers floating around.
