Speaking of spare mags for the Romanian trainer...... are they the aftermarket made in China mags or could they be original? I have never even seen a original that I know of?

Taiwan BD. CL told me they were made under contract for the Romanians at one point. They fit just fine and look exactly like the original. I got 8 of them after almost losing the one that came with mine. I thought it dropped in the woods one day and back tracked for almost a mile to try to find it in the dark no less. Turns out I had left it in the box of shells on the shelf. That's when I decided to go on a search and destroy mission to find some. He has the best price for these at the moment at $24 each. There's a few places that carry them now. The thing is if you lose the mag it becomes a single shot. Not fun. Here's some the of ones that are still in stock the last time I checked. http://gun-deals.com/index.php?dealtype ... 9&subcat=1 BuyMilsurp.com used to carry them but haven't had them for a while. I keep the original in the gun and have 2 loaded on the shelf at all times in case I have to rush out like a few minutes ago to defend my birds. I have chickens, turkeys and guinea keets out loose during the day. Lots of preditors around here.

Yes Taiwan not China. I only have the one that came with the gun. I have seen them however for 26 bucks for a pair of them.

Man that was a good deal. I wish you'd have picked me up a bunch of them. I could sell 'em on the black market for.......one million dollars.

Ok BD I have an update on the incoming rifles. They came in and noone called me. I waited until about 2pm and couldn't stand it anymore. As I suspected they were in and nobody bothered calling me. I went to pick them up and the expired ID got me. Because it was so late already I didn't make it to the DMV in time to get the ID renewed. I was 3 minutes late. I have to wait until Monday to get it renewed and go back. I knew it was going to jump up and bite me in the you know what. I haven't renewed it because I'm waiting for California to send me some paperwork. Needless to say I'm pissed. I have a valid ID but it's a California ID. I had a valid ID for Louisiana too. We have houses in both places but they said because I started the process with the Louisiana ID and that one is expired I have to renew that one. This is all because of the BS rules about gun registration and gun control. Had enough government yet? I was within arms reach. The girl that did the checkin paper work said "What are these things?" and "You better wear gloves when you pull these out of the box because they're covered in grease" She said she had to find the serial number that the paper work has on it. She also knew there was a firing pin protrusion tool in one of the ammo pouches and first asked what the pouch was then said there's a strange tool in there. I explained to her what it was. Ssooo... Monday hopefully.

Yeah well he's insured for what that's worth but I doubt anyone will be breaking in to this place. When I talked to him on the phone I asked him if he had guns and ammo for sale and he said yes to the guns and no for ammo. He said the insurance was to high to keep ammo around. I've never been to this place and when I got there I was kind of shocked. The owner wasn't there and it's run by a bunch of kids. Noone there was older then 25 I would guess. Now keep in mind this is a gun and pawn shop right? Well they had a few revolvers and about 20 rifles of various hunting caliber and a few shotguns. One over and under 12ga. Stoeger they wanted about $300 for and a Benelli fully Camo'd 12ga. that was $1000. Oh and though I'm pissed about the ID deal, not their fault I realize, I didn't mention that he's only charging me $40 to transfer all 6 guns. So though I have to wait that makes it better.

I had no idea it was going to be this cheap. He charges $20 for one gun. If I'd have only bought 4 guns he would have only charged me $20 because they can get up to 4 guns on one form. They were apologetic about it because they had to charge me $40 and explained it was because I had 6 and only 4 fit on one form so they had to do 2 forms. I would have bought 2 more rifles if I knew, lol. I was expecting $20 per gun and when he told me he'd give me a discount I was expecting maybe $20 or $30 dollars off but not $80.

Oh man. I can feel the anticipation. That means they are going to be that much sweeter to finally get your hands on. I can't even imagine getting 6 at one time. I remember Junk Yard Dog telling of such hauls and it sure sounds good. At least you know you have enough ammo to feed them all because when they get out of the box they are gonna be starving! :)

Heh, why do you think I bought so many at once? I have so much ammo for these I needed something to shoot it all out of. I didn't feel right just putting it all through the M44. I know, I can only shot one gun at a time but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm also in the early stages of getting another ammo order together and I'll be getting a few more crates of of 54R too. So you know what that means. You got it....more Mosins. Muhahahaha!!! lol

That sucks Weldonhunter! Heck, I was looking forward to the pictures, and they are your guns! Great price on the FFL fee. Local place I use charges between 21 and $25. Official price is $25 which is very reasonable, but when I got my Mosin, they guy was busy mounting a scope, and I had to wait a bit. Not big deal, but it seems he knocked off a couple of bucks. Good shop, is my preferred place to buy stuff.

Do you have a range nearby, or do you shoot on your own land?

Hopefully if everything goes ok tomorrow I'll have them. Leaving here early in the morning to get the ID straightened out and it's off to pick them up. I'm in the sticks so I just walk out back here to shoot. Takes me about 5 minutes to walk to my deer stand. One of these pictures shows what's behind my shop. http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... =16&t=1313

Must be nice! I have deer sometimes in my 'backyard', but the neighbors are a bit too close for me to shoot here.

That's easy. Compound bow. Makes virtually no noise. You just have to dress up like a stick and stand as still as one so they come close enough to get a shot. I have to tell you it is nice. I can walk to my stand but I could shoot from my carport if I wanted. I have a 600 foot drive way and my neighbors are just across the street but they don't care. They hunt too. All of them. The women do better than the men sometimes. The wife got a beautiful 8 point last weekend at the place they have across from his mama's place about 30 miles from here. They hunt here too but the other place is even deeper into the woods. They have to take sunlight with them when they go to visit.

That's one thing good about living in the country. Everyone has firearms and they all shoot. My neighbor up the road has full-auto stuff. I've never asked him what it is but I hear him a few times a month out back blasting away. He's retired FBI so there's no telling what it could be. I'll be asking him the next time I visit. Guns are a normal part of life around here as it should be. They're simply a tool to put food on the table, have fun shooting or to protect the family. Last time I went over to a buddy of mine's house we got to talking about old firearms and the next thing I know he's pulling guns out from all kinds of places to show me. He lives on a family place with his wife and kids and we were at the parents house. It was so funny. His 10 year old daughter was bringing out all kinds of neat stuff saying looky here Mr. Mike this is my favorite deer rifle. A .270 Browning A-Bolt.

Living in the country has it's benefits but the downside is there's virtually no gun stores. The one I'm using to do my FFLs is about 30 miles away and it's really just a pawn shop with very few guns and no ammo. None! There is a place across the road but they charge $50 per gun for a transfer and everything is high. $34 for a box of 50 .44Mag Remington 180gr LSWC.

Oh heck Fred I just remembered, you're down here in Louzyana too. You know exactly what I'm going on about. I'm up in Claiborne Parish. I'm just about 25 or 30 miles south of El Dorado, Arkansas.

Well, if you ever want to shoot AR's Mosins, and handguns, shoot me a PM. :D I hate the local public range. The indoor range is nice, but 25 yards is not really for rifles.

Hey you got to that post quick. I added a paragraph to the end there so reread it. We were supposed to get together a shoot this year but it never happened and deer season snuck up on us. I have a bunch of exploding targets. Some I got from Sam at SGAmmo and some that a buddy sent me from SurvivalOps. He sent me some exploding pistol targets that can be used with .22lr and a bunch of other ones. I don't remember what all they are. He has some new ones now too called Black Lightning. The ones I have from SGAmmo are 1 pounders by HotShot. I have 10 of those. Sound like a stick of dynamite going off. He also sent me some Lapua .22lr Match ammo. It's some pretty ammo. I almost hate to shoot it. It'd have to wait until sometime after deer season. My buddys and the kids would love to make a day of it.

Yeah it's speck on the map. You're not that far at all. We'll have to set something up after deer season when the weather's a bit nicer. I'll get at least one of my buddy's to come over with the kids too. Like I said before. We were supposed to get something going this year but never pulled it off. He was working out by Shreveport all week and home on the weekends and we never made time for it. I'm off to at least get the ID deal straight if possible. Had a change in plans this morning so I may not have time to get the rifles too. May have to wait until tomorrow to actually pick them up. Bummer. Oh well I waited this long. One more day won't hurt.
