Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
You look at the back of the rear sight base and see if there is a slight gap between the barrel and the bottom of the base, if you search around on the forum someone had pictures of this up. 1933 is a bit late for a dragoon rifle, not outside of possibility, but this was well into 91/30 production. Why an ex dragoon in that year? 20's dated 91/30's are not hard to find and these would all be ex dragoons.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

You might find a late 32 year with a 33 barrel that might be a ex dragoon but it would be a search to last a while. Good luck in your hunt and after bbs refurb treasure there is nothing that is not possible.

Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
Just a personal preferance. I want an ex dragoon or a dragoon and a 33 rifle but i already have a 42 91/30 and i dont want 2 of the same kind. But an ex dragoon will kinda be the same anyway. Whats the odds on finding a actual dragoon rifle??

Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
You can find them, I have sen at least three pop up on gunbroker over the last year, and that was just while I was paying attention. Don't expect them to go cheap, you might get lucky and score one for $200 from some kid who doesn't have a clue what it is but $500 is more realistic.

Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
They seem to go for the same price as any hex receiver M91/30 refurb, about $120. There is nothing especially special about an ex dragoon, it only means the rifle had a different sight setup on it and slightly different handguard but was otherwise like any 91/30.amm9130 wrote:Thanks for the info JYD. Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
I have a 1933 with the ex dragoon sights. I have a post with pictures viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3975. I think it is a really neat rifle and even is a good shooter which makes it that much better.
Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
After seeing all the info on ex dragoons I think I'll look for an actual Dragoon instead of getting one kinda like my 91/30. Thanks to all for the help

Re: 1933 ex Dragoon
It's not that bad Bill, I have seen them come and go on gunbroker all year, true they are expensive, and not an everyday item, but not near as rare as say a 1907 carbine. Russell just posted up his the other day, he just got it.
