Re: Run on ammo?
Lately Walmart has been carrying MG12 shotgun shells. They are 5 rd. boxes of military grade 12 ga 00 buckshot rds by Winchester. If I need a few items from the store I like to grab a box of these.
Re: Run on ammo?

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Re: Run on ammo?
i may have to clean up the tater gun and stock up on ammo before they ban taters
Re: Run on ammo?
I had to make a trip to Walmart so I stopped by the sporting goods section. They really were stocked up pretty good on ammo. They were out of the items they are always out, the rest was pretty well stocked. As of today their prices were the same on the items I normally buy. I am sure they will go up as their cost goes up.

I bought 30 boxes of this stuff a few months ago from an outfit down south, it's good stuff, a basic buck load.bunkysdad wrote:Lately Walmart has been carrying MG12 shotgun shells. It looks good. Like you said, basic high brass dk green plastic shell with 9 pellets of 00 buck. I'd hate to be on the receiving end. Good stuff to bust the heads on walkers.

I bought it to bust heads should the need arise, walkers or otherwise.

Re: Run on ammo?
The gun stores i went to over the weekend were business as usual, plenty of guns and ammo. Same with the box stores, guess NEPA doesnt buy into that hoopla lol.
To many to list, many more to get, not enough money :-D

Re: Run on ammo?
I have a theory that gun/ammo manufacturers start these rumors about short supply, gun rights being taken, or ammo and magazines being outlawed to spike sales. Every 2 years whenever elections happen it's the same crap, gun and ammo sales soar yet nothing happens except a sharp rise in profit on gun/ammo sales.
Conservative radio/TV hosts start talking and the next thing you know prices spike and supply is "limited".
It's just too predictable now...

Re: Run on ammo?
Stopped by Walmart today, they were pretty well stocked EXCEPT for what I came in for, 7.62x39 Tulammo space was empty. Usually has about 30 boxes or so plus some on the 'extra" shelf but not one single box in the case. Can't blame that on deer season as it's FMJ and illegal to hunt with here.

SGAmmo has the same ammo and though it's $123.95ea when you buy 4 instead of $119.99 I'd be willing to bet the shipping from SGAmmo is cheaper. Shipping for 4 is $98 flatrate or $24.50 each. I can't check it because The-Armory is sold out of all of their 54R but the last crate I bought from them was $30.20 shipping. It may be cheaper to you in TN. I'm in Louisiana so you're a bit closer to them. I'll add I have 4 crates of this and haven't shot any of it but someone recently posted a thread that I believe is about this ammo and he was having real bad case splits. I mean all the way down to the rim. His was headstamped 60/46.

Re: Run on ammo?
OK here is my report. I went to the Nations Gun Show today in Chantilly VA. Big show got to be over 800 tables. My normal guy I got to for Mosins didn’t have any. So I asked him if he brought any. He did and they were sold out on Friday night!! So I went and had a look around and found some nice Mosins with big prices on them. They were averaging at about 220.00- 500.00. The two that were 500.00 were all numbers matching from 1897 and 1905. I also saw an ex- Dragoon form 1927 for 220.00. I think I got the years correct. Ammo was 77.00 for two cans or 80 for one. I also bought some Nagant Ammo and some .30 Cal brushes since I think I’ll ware them out. I met a guy who was interested in buying his first Mosin we had a goo chat about some things to look for and I invited him to the forum. Hope he joins. The other thing I noticed was some SKS’s that looked like you would not even want to fire them. Seemed like all of them were in sad shape. Prices seemed the same to me and there were lots of people buying including me. I got my 7-year-old girl a pink .22 Walther for 299.00. Most kids ask for toys for Christmas she asked for a pink pistol.

I also went to a gunshow today. Holbrook Ma. Not much there either. Three Mosin Nagants in all. One refirb. Two others in average condition. Prices kind of high.
I have been going all over the Boston area, and have found nearly nothing. It's kinda of nice hearing they are getting a little harder to find. I thought it was just me. Seeing some of these posts saying "look what I got" was really getting me down. LOL.
I'll keep looking.

Twinkies and Mosins, both seem hard to find today.
