Too many numbers...

Post by Shawnc »

I've decided that 7.62x54r is just too darned long to type. So from now on I dub it...the .310 Commie! Who's with me?
Yeah, I know it has more characters... but it has a nice ring to it. :bwink:

Well when you consider that it was designed while Russia was still Russia the first time, you might want to call it .310 Imperial. Now the 7.62 x 39 might be up for your "Commie" label.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Just type x54.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I just use 54r and X39 when the post is concerning either of those two calibers.

.310 Commie sounds like a very big & heavyset Russian dude with a real bad disposition.... And .310 Imperial makes me think of a big ol' Chrysler....

I'll stick with 7.62x54r or 54r or even just plain "ammo" as LC suggested.

Overweight Reds and Underpowered Mopars. I think you have the correct idea for these "names" even though I came up with one.

I shot my first 7.62X54R this week-end. I called it "Woah!"
