WWII Soviet sniper trench periscope....

Post by desert drifter »

I found this at a local antique mall. It is a soviet TP4 scout/sniper trench periscope. It is dated 1945 but I doubt that it seen any service at all. It is real nice condition, clear optics. It has ranging reticle. It is built like a tank and would make a good last ditch weapon. It also has an adjustable occular that can be focused.

I guess my mind is slipping some. I've been looking through it holding it verticle..thats the way I look at things. The image in the periscope was correct, the way it should be with top on top and bottom on bottom. I went to look around a corner expecting the image to now be rolled over...the side of the image to be on bottom and the top of the image to be on the side...

Nope! to my momentary amazement the image was still correctly oriented. Should have known better but you can forget what you learned in college physics class in 40 years or so.

Interesting novelty I guess.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

IIRC theirs were all post war. The WWII dated ones went close to $200 I've seen them all over in price, until I wanted one. :? :?
