Pic of partial collection of percussion revolvers..

Post by desert drifter »

Heres a pic of some of my percussion revolvers. Just about everyone you see here I was able to find at pawnshops.

The two on top are Colt c series 1851 Navys.

I'd be very interested in seeing your percussion revolvers, show 'em if you got 'em.

Jim, that Starr is a beaut! That LeMat, must be fun to shoot.

The LeMat is a fun shooter so long as you avoid the shotgun barrel, it's not only awkward to fire, it's basically a hand canon when you do. The Starr is very much like a modern revolver.

I still have some that have yet to see a camera, I tend to pick these up at odd times and stash them away. Tag sales, flea markets, GB, I buy black powder 50 pounds at a time :) This pile does not include the long muskets and such, they eat a serious amount of powder.

JYD I'm the same way...I've got BP firearms all over the place. I've even had folks who know I collect them and take care of them bring me guns they longer want. I've beg them not to but they still bring 'em by.

It's an 1858 Remington New Army .44 target revolver made by Pietta. I have one like it above. Same as the old revolver except they added modern style sights.

Shuh-weeeng!
Drifter that short stainless Ruger Old Army is the Cat's a**! I have seen them go easily for 750 bucks. Nice guns all of you guys. Even your meager little collection Jim! Haha
Here is the little Philladelphia Derringer I got from a guy at work. The lock was terrible and seized up. A little cleaning, filing, fitting, and oil and it it ready for the firing line- maybe 10 feet or so.

Well BD seems like those Philly Derringers aint doin to bad hold'n their price either. Check out DGW PH0913 at $525. At one time DGW had a really neat Philly Derringer in a compartmented box with balls, caps, screwdriver, loading rod, et. al. for about $145. The last time I seen one of those was about 5 years ago at a gun show and the asking prices was $625. Luv 'em.

I fail to understand the price asked for what is a simple single shot pistol, almost twice what Cabelas asks for it's brass frame Navy revolvers . I have one someplace, cost me something like $15 back in the 70's, many used to come as kits.

I picked up this Jukar in "unfinished kit/w missing parts" at a gun show for $8. I had to remove a bunch of wood from the stock but I was able to finish it as a "PoorBoy" Derringer.

It'll shoot.

And here's a flintlock Derringer.
