There are a lot more factors than just a scope to shooting accurately out past 200 yards with a 70+ year old milsurp rifle. A scope is something you should select yourself from what you can find at your nearest Cabelas if there is one or the local gunshop. You get what you pay for in a scope, a good one will go for at least twice what you paid for a basic 91/30. Just don't expect miracles from a scope, it will not teach you proper long distance shooting techniques, it will not correct the inaccuracy's in the weapon caused by years of use during war. As for the M44, you can list it in the forums for sale section, anyone with a C&R FFL can legally purchase it from you, and there are many C&R holders here on the forum. You will need a signed copy of their FFL before you can ship it, and you must only ship it to the address on the FFL.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Or the person that buys it can have you ship it to their FFL and he will handle the transfer. You do not need an FFL or C&R to legally sell to someone else as long as the transfer takes place through an FFL you are fine. Again you will have to have a copy of the receiving FFL's license to ship it legally. Face to Face is much easier for all concerned so a local sale will be easier for you. Bill

Hey headshooter, what are the details of your m44? Be sure and check out our buy and sell section if you are serious.

Zombie, don't do it! Put a few bucks away and buy your ammo outright, breaking a basic rule here for building a collection in that you only trade a firearm for another equal or better firearm not for something like ammo that's hear today and shot tomorrow. The 44's are going up in value every year, you'll regret trading it off for anything other than another rifle. :2cents:

Never sell a gun if you cannot improve your collection.....and by no means for ammo.

You might regret selling your M44 already next year....after the election! If the worst thinkable happens....

I have no interest in selling my milsurps. I sold my Springfield XD9 to raise funds for my 1916 M91 dragoon. I loved the pistol. It was 100% reliable so I felt good about selling it to a friend. Plus I still have a Springfield XD40. I will sell a commercial firearm to acquire a milsurp I want, but not likely the other way around.

I have sold or traded many commercial sporters over the years, but only parted with one milsurp, a SKS I gifted to a friend. It is a Chinese military issue.

I am sort of backwards to others I find as I sort of reached a saturation point of Mosins with 6 safes full I started culling duplicates awhile back and buying things like AR's and AK's. Modern weapons and even bought a few pistols which is pure folly for me because I am better off throwing a pistol and running the way I shoot one then trying to shoot it. Oh well we are all at different points in our collecting life I guess. Bill :o

I have gone through many stages of collecting, black powder, US milsurps, Mosins, Mauser's, other milsurps, semi auto black rifles, however I rarely part with anything and I still have all these collections. Gun hoarder :)
