Well after 2 hours of pissin around in a welding shop, I finally got a bipod made. I built it just like the bayonets are, as in it slides down past the front sight. In the one picture it looks kinda sloppy because I didnt put the insert in the tube to go around the barrel, but dont worry, I have it.
So what do ya guys think?

Well the first thing i am wondering is how it affects the barrel at the range, and also how it would help at the range, but not bad. I usualy put the bottom of the stock on the support as much as possible but have never worried about it on a 91/30 before. I am curious as to how it does as opposed to a bayo.

No idea, I can still put the bayonet on if I want to, I just slipped it on real quick to snap a picture. After this hurricane rolls through Im gonna be out in the field puttin a few rounds through it to see how it performs.

That will not doubt affect the barrel harmonics and accuracy. How I have no idea to be honest. The ideal way for a tripod, monopod, or whatever is to mount it on the stock somehow I have been told. If it shoots well we will have a flood of comments about how the rifles were meant to shoot with the bayonet in place and that is why the mount works so well! Oh well to each their own I guess. Bill
Im not a pro by no means, but I dont know how or why it would effect the accuracy any. Its not mounted to the gun, its just resting on the bipod. I figured it would just be something to try what the hell, why not ya know? If it does in fact screw up the accuracy then I will obviously not use it, just wasnt no harm in trying, and it didnt cost me anything to build it.

I don't think he meant it as a put down but that is what i meant also. Barrel harmonics are always effected by anywhere the barrel touchs stuff, like the stock and props at the range and by the bayo. It is not always bad and if in the right place then it can help. I think you should test this monster semi seriously and see what happens. And if the bayo can go on it at the same time i would test it like that too. A 3 or 4 prong test would be interesting. No bipod and no bayo and no rest on barrel and then with the pod alone and with the bayo alone and then with both. No harm no foul.

Nice job, I hope after all that it has no effect on barrel harmonics, but as almost everyone here shoots at short range 100 yards or under it probably won't, past that and it probably will.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
