Introduced to MN three weeks ago, already bought my second.

Post by catcracker »

My son introduced me to these rifles about 3 weeks ago, and I bought my second one yesterday. Tula 1933 Hex. It was a lot more fun picking out my next Mosin Nagant after learning more details about them from all the member posts here. I "plan" on having pics tomorrow, but we will see. I know its not a rare model, but I fell in love with it. I spent the day cleaning, except for the stock. So it was a great day

I do have some pics I snuck while in the gun shop. Some of you have hinted that the store I have been to may not have as many Mosin Nagants as I said they do. Well I did confirm that the crates under the open crates were indeed full, and would not be opened until more were sold out of the open crates. I was told they have about 600-800 left.

I was also able to buy one of the crates. They are selling them for 29.99. They said they will set the next empty one aside for me for my next visit.

Plus several rakes.

I didn't know for sure how the shop would feel about me taking pics, so I kind of did it undercover. The store is in Lancaster, Ohio.

Wow, lots of crates there.

I'd visit that store often, you never know what might be in those crates.

The ammo cans on top of the crates, the big 20mm ones, how much and do they ship? :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Sam just got a bunch of weird cans in. He doesn't have ones that big but he has PA120s 40mm, PA108 Fat 50s, PA154 Tall 120mms and some others. http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/ammo-cans-and-crates

Wow... that is a lot of history crammed into a store. I'd check back as often as possible. Life is like a crate of mosin nagants, you never know what you're going to get :)

I'm surprised he gave up the location. I would have kept my old local store for refurbs a secret, but it was RGUNS; kinda hard to keep them off everyone's radar.

Junk Yard Dog- Next time I am in there, I will check.

Jayrocka = the store is http://www.ovoutdoors.com/

I did think about keeping the location a secret. But I am a big believer in Karma. So I'm hoping helping you all here may come back to me someday.

FYI The Mosin Nagant deal they have going now is the rifle with all the accessories, plus 440 round of surplus ammo for $200.00. As I said before, I would say 80% of what I seen in the crates are Tula, Hex, and have refurb on the stocks.

I would take that deal all day. Well at least a few times. Not too bad if you ask me. If that deal was near me i would be on it a couple of times a month.

Here are my pics. This is not a rare find. However, the barrel and stock are full of markings. The barrel in not counter bored. And its in great condition. So I am happy. Sorry for the quality of pics. I was not happy they don't show the detail. I did find that if you magnify your monitor 200%, a lot of the detail can be seen better. But for the most part, it is what it is.

Many markings on the barrel. I would guess most are from inspectors.

I wanted a bolt with the square base.
Image
I also wanted the screwed in sling slots. Also notice the faint "70" in the stock. Did an armory or soidier put that there? And you may not see in the pic, but there is one of those round russian marks on the stock.
Image
There are a lot of marks on both sides of the stock in this area. I really liked that.
