Someone would have to truly piss me off for that to happen, like if we catch Bubba hiding on the forum.

That's what I told Scott when he stuck a C note into a card playing machine at the casino a few weeks back and lost it in ten minutes. Might as well have given it to me to use in the head, at least then one of us would have gotten use from it :)

I'm going to try and play around with doing this mag conversion also this winter when there's nothing else to do. But i'm just going to do it to an old rusted pieced together mosin that wouldn't be good for anything but parts so i don't wreck a good one. I like the idea and think it's cool looking but what do i know as i watch to much walking dead tv..... :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

The rusty old Mosins are the best ones of all, these are the rifles with real history on them. They are all equally valued as milsurps here, as for the Walking Dead, don't worry, one day soon you will be able to look out your window and see it live....well, live for at least a short while :)

Season three started October 14th. I decided this week I'm turning off my dish network, $68.00 a month and I think I have watched TV about ten times in the last two months. Everything I watch now I stream from Netflix so I have decided where I'm cutting back.

But, Ed, you are going to miss all the good news on CBS and sisters and all the bad news on Fox and brothers. Are you retiring from the normal life of interpreting news from different networks to find out a "Third Truth" ?
Neighbor in the WEST, you are scaring me, now I have to get the old machine to think again, it was all so nice to get one's opinion implanted by watching TV, LOOOOOOOOL, Rofl and SMP

JYD,
:big shock: Halloween and the Zoobies are coming.... :big shock:

:beek: Prep team for the Halloween/Zoombie time lurking in early November at this forsaken place: :beek:
JB with 12 gauge pump, also debt collector, loan business in the neighborhood. Likes buckshot and slugs.
MB with milsurp semi, also enforcer of truth, assisting JB. Likes FMJ for easier clean-up. Will not deny HP.
SB with milsurp bolt-action carbine, distance door opener, the leader of the group. Likes any kind of hard ball ammo to make a point on engines.
I can attest that they are trained well.......

Whooa, just read the Delta Press Ltd. outrageous catalogue passed to me from a neighbor (No debts from him payable). I must have missed something in this forum, somehow......

Is this kind of thinking for real? :big shock:

If so, then I want all our Mosins with 20 round magazines, not 10, as that would be a waste of money...... :chuckles: :chuckles:

So no 10 or 20 magazines for our beloved Mosins of any kind, even thinking about that sounds to me like bubbaing in progress!

Been following that thread on calguns about the mag for some time now, I remember when he made the first (very rough) prototype. No M/N parts are damaged/modified with this mag.

If the price is cheap enough, and they work, I might wind up picking one up just for the hell of it.

I'm good with 5 rounds.
I'm thinking the intent was,if you only had 5 rounds to shoot at a time..You would make sure each shot counted.

The mag would turn an M44 into a neat scout rifle for a lot less dough than the Ruger. But since I shoot mostly "offhand", the extended mag would get in the way as I balance the rifle just in front of the mag. And if you shoot competition, the rules require a reload during each string. So IMHO stripper clips and practice are better suited for the Mosin.
Don't shoot that antique rifle! You could put an eye out!!

The major problem you will run into is making it feed reliably. If the 7.62x54 were a rimless cartridge then it wouldn't be too bad but the fact it is rimmed could create unforeseen issues. I'm really surprised by the claim that this is actually a reversible mod without permanent modification. I'm sorry, but you would have to forever alter the mag assembly to make this work unless you create a whole new assembly from scratch. Also, to make a reliable mag spring, feed system & the time to make it would be cost prohibitive. I'm guessing a sale price of at least $50 each? Would you pay that for something that would likely fail from time to time even on a good day? I think not.

No, our new found modder friend is most likely running into the same problems as I previously mentioned... It would take far more than a simple metal plate & spring to feed each round consistently & there is no way to utilize the Nagant feed system as designed. Good luck to him on his endeavors & don't hold your breath for a usable, reliable & affordable end product.

Enough already.

Essentially it's a whole assembly. I first saw the thing on the web some time back looking at his Steam Punk computer stuff. Check this out http://www.datamancer.net/keyboards/keyboards.htm

But the idea behind the mag extender is that you simply open the floor plate and unclip the existing spring removing the existing spring and follower. Takes all of a few seconds to do since I take mine out to clean up regularly. Then you clip in the replacement device instead, and it's got it's own follower and spring assembly inside. Close the door and it's ready to hold 10 instead of 5 rounds. Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to install or remove.

I don't know the target price, but I cannot imagine you could fabricate and sell them for only $50. You would need a production run of several thousand to get the economy of scale, and then who the devil would buy them? If you only made a few hundred they'd cost more than the rifle.
