10 round mosin nagant magazine

Post by luke9511 »

i did a search and couldnt find anything so im sorry if i missed it bu was wondering if anyone else saw this and what your thoughts on it are http://www.mosinmags.com/ last message from the maker was this
Hi folks, I want to thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support of this project.

The mags aren't available just yet, but they are being worked-on.

In the meantime, I have set up a new website for them and am separating the project from my old www.datamancer.net website. Unfortunately as part of this separation, THIS MAILING LIST WILL BE DELETED very soon, and if you would like to continue to receive updates on the project YOU WILL NEED TO SIGN UP TO THE NEW MAILING LIST at www.MosinMags.com.

I apologize for the inconvenience. To make the transition easier, I will also try to manually add everyone's email address to the new list, so if you receive a verification request from mosinmags.com, please click the link in the email to allow your email address to be added.

Thanks and have a great day!

I seen his video on Youtube and while I am anti-modding, somethings make things better. As long as they look like the one pictured above and work, I'd try one.

I did see it on You Tube awhile back. Honestly, This being a historical weapon forum, the purist will not likely be jumping for joy about it unless it can be a mod that does not damage or modify the gun to where it could not be easily converted back to the original condition of the rifle. This forum does not endorse moding the MN. I am certain if it works and is inexpensive to buy, they will turn up on some Bubba rifles. Myself, I would not purchase one due to the fact I do not endorse any modifications to these historic rifles. :2cents:

Looks a lot like mall ninja stuff to me, is loading five at a time really that huge an ordeal? I can't see myself buying one.

it just replaces the mag floor plate and utilizes the same locking / latch as the original taking but seconds to swap which is great and the way it looks, it almost seems like it "could have been" an original design for the soviet trench mag. I have seen a pic or two of a mosin trench mag but no close ups or detailed information. if you think about it, the M1903 and the Mauser K98 had issued trench mags ruling out "mall ninja or Bubba work. So why not the mosin?

As I understand it this is a thing that allows the loading of 5 additional cartridges to the original 5 for a total of ten. It's not a "original" part AS I UNDERSTAND

The difference between "being worked on" and reliably functioning could be years or never, especially when it comes to magazines.

I can show you "videos" of Tom Hanks in a room with LBJ too.

The question becomes, Why? No matter what you do to modify the weapon, it will still be an obsolete bolt action military rifle. It would be far better to learn to use the stripper clips and use the rifle as it was designed. Modifications, even temporary ones, send the message, to others, that it is OK to change the rifle.

The Mosin is not a speed shooter like the Enfield, no point to a ten round mag, and it makes the weapon that much more difficult to shoot off a bench resting on sandbags as I tend to shoot them.

It does no harm, but is an unnecessary waste of money. We target shoot with these rifles from the safely of a bench on a range, the only reason for extended mag capacity is to avoid having to stop for a reload , but we have time for that on the range, and helps give the weapon some cooling time . Some guys hunt with their Mosins, but for that you need one shot, two at most unless they are a seriously incompetent hunter taking marginal shots. Even with the Enfield I only load one five round stripper at a time.

Why think outside the "collectors box" on a "collector and preservation" forum?

I think this is the same guy that has been working on this project for over a year or so now. Out of California here.

If it is reversible, I suppose it is OK here, but maybe down in the "sportster section". It has no historical or collectable significance for a Mosin, so probably not the best place to talk about it here.

Personally, I can see the use for a scout scope if the rifle is your only hunting rifle, but what is the point of this thing? Waste of money.

Been watching The Walking Dead haven't you. You want mag capacity then get an AK, that way you have both mag capacity, and a high rate of fire to warrant it :)

or an SKS with a high cap magazine. all you have to do is not put the original magazine back in and the high cap mag just goes right in. you can all ways put the original back in with no problem. i have a couple of em and they work just fine. the SKS is a great rifle for less than an AK or AR. I agree that an extended mag on a mosin is pretty pointless...

This is bubba stuff, but I do remember reading a while back that experimental higher capacity mags were produced either by the Soviets or the Finns. I can't remember which one. Does anyone have any information on those?
