I forgot, I saw a real pawn shop last week, we don't have any here so I only see them on TV otherwise. We were passing through Bridgeport Connecticut and I spotted a Pawn sign on a row of stores, it was a real shitty neighborhood, the sort with gang tags sprayed on the walls and sneakers hanging off the electric lines so we decided it would be unwise to linger there, so we only saw the outside. I didn't smell any guns anyway.

Excuses, excuses.......I am sure you can read and all, but I bet the opinion about pictures changes if I were to hand you a copy of Playboy :chuckles:

Only if it comes in a plain unmarked brown paper bag  The receiver is a 1905 Izhevsk and the side plate on it has the punch marks from early Finnish Rockwell testing on the hardness of the early Russian receivers. Bill

I bought a lot of stuff back when it was still possible to get nice things for less than a hundred bucks :) Some of these M39's were less than $200. I used to buy them cheap because the finish was worn, then Pat Burns wised up and realized they were the best rifles. Already tweaked as much as humanly possible to shoot straight.

Mine are the old battle worn ones! I used to have many nice ones like those but traded them away. Most of mine came from NY right up by you JYD, Curt Ellisons was that it? His place was my haunt. I got some nice rifles from him for around $100 each. He died and the kid took over with his Mom holding the license. The kid just about killed himself a couple of times and Mom sold out. The man that uses the immortal Grey blanket to sell on Gunbroker got all the stock he had many years ago. I remember one time going up that dang hill of his in the snow I almost bought the farm on the ice under the snow. dogone what a driveway that was!!! Bill

The man with the gray blanket keeps putting up Turk Mauser's to tempt me, it works, make him stop, I am running short of room. He is far to the north of me, I am closer to Numrich Arms.

Mauser?!?

Maybe you had better scroll to the top of the page. I think that there is a message in the blue banner for you
Although I dearly miss my Loewe Chilean 1895 that I sold earlier this year. A prettier rifle and more classic bridge between the old world and the new, you will not find.

Funny you should say that about Turk Mausers, the last gun show I saw one of the nicest ones I have seen in years and just barely got myself to walk away without buying it! There have been a few lately at shows and some nice ones to boot. Just what we need huh? Bill

I have a Mauser collection as well as Mosin, some 40 odd rifles from South American Mauser's to the K98, I have one 1895 Chilean rifle, and two carbines :)

Zeebill,
If you send me your photos, I'll post them for you. I'm tired of looking at more of JYD's rifles. He is depressing me with his collection. :bwink:
