Stevens Little Scout 14 1/2

Post by finloq »

This one has the Savage mark, so it must have been built after Savage aquired Stevens in 1923 (and before they stopped producing them in 1936).
Somebody has refinished the stock and they did a great job, the metal is original with a nice plum/brown patina. The bore is excellent.
Most of the pictures are the sellers, as they dwarf me in photgraphic ability.

That is one pretty little rifle, I love old Steven's rifles.

Not surprising, holes touching at 25 yards (while seated).

Now I just need a replacement breech block screw (or hammer screw, they may be the same). The one in her now is home made, curved and touchy. If it is not screwed in JUST right, the block drops upon firing and you get a 22 shell bouncing off the brim of your hat.

I've tried: Sarco, NUMRICH, etc.
Does anybody know the compatibility of Model 26, Crackshot's? The screws look the same on drawings.

No idea, you named everyone I would have suggested. Now what you need is a real old gunsmith who is also a hoarder and has a pile of old rusty parts rifles stacked in the back of his shop. I used to know one but he is in the beyond now.
