Number over Year on Soviet Block Ammo.

Post by Hobe Sound Falcon »

The Number over the Line over the Year, must be the Day The Ammo was Made, reason I say this is I have seen Number's higher than 52. At first I thought it was the Week and Year Combo Now I guess it is the Day and Year Combo. Have you all noticed this also.?

The 22 over 75 is actually the powder lot # the info on each section of the can can look somewhat different depending on country of origin but basically gives you the same info. Bulgaria and Russia used basically the same ammo can marking pattern.

You head stamp should read 10 over 75.

Is there a way to tell the difference between a 'spam can' of 7.62x54R and 7.62x39? (short of opening it of course)
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!
