Whats your most accurate milsurp rifle?

Post by dubois9837 »

I have been surprised by the remarkable accuracy of a Yugo M48 I purchased recently. It easily out shoots any 91/30, M44, M38, T-53, or even the M39 I have. I have not had to adjust the iron sights at all on it. First trip to the range shooting Prvi Partizan 196gr. soft points I was putting 3 out of 3 rounds dead center bullseye from 50yds ( I shoot mostly 50yds with my iron sights because that is typically the distance I shoot deer where I hunt or closer ). When I purchased this rifle from SOG a couple weeks ago, they said that it came from a Easteren European police department armory. Maybe thats why it was so accurate " out of the box ".

My Polish M44, it hits whatever I aim at. My 40 Tula runs it a close second, I had to float the barrel on it to improve it though.

I've always been impressed by the consistently good groups I get when I shoot my No. 1 Mk III Lee Enfield with the right load (normally my own handload). I would have to classify it as my best, as I am able to shoot good groups from the bench consistently at 100 and 200 yards. Surprisingly enough, my second best is a Chinese Type 56 SKS in 7.62x39. The Mosin Nagant Izhevsk M91/30 comes in a close third with surplus ammo. It will equal the SKS with my own 7.62x54r handloads.

That would be a tie between any of my M39's and M1903-A3's, they all shoot pretty dam good, and considering they do that with me behind the trigger they must be phenomenally accurate rifles in the hands of a real marksman with young eyes.

It's a toss up between the Swiss K31 and the Swede M96, slight edge to the swiss. :popgun:

Yep, that's me. Most of my rifles shoot way better than me now. I'm not as steady as I used to be and my eyesight is going. My Garand is real accurate now that I've done some work on it and the PU sniper is no slouch either. Now this might change because I have about 15 rifles I haven't shot yet.

I would have to list 3 here. It would be a toss up between a 40 VKT M91 and a M39 vkt and a close second or tie with the K31. I had the K31 and the M91 out at the same time and with me shooting it was the M91 by a squeeker, winning. :D

This is a hard call as I have a Swiss K31 and a Swiss 1896/11 that are very accurate but I think my M39's are comparable to the Swiss.

K31 here. I presume my 1896/11 would also be a contender but I haven't had it out enough to be able to judge how accurate it is.

M1 Garand over my K31 simply because of more use
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

For a rifle you can grab, shoulder, acquire the sights and hit something with the K31 is hard to beat. My 03 is defiantly shoots as well if not better, just have to concentrate a little more with the sights.

The K31 I've shot the most, I seem to have better luck with it than my M39 Mosins. Semiauto, Mas 49/56, I can't explain this one, but, it hits what whatever I point it at repeatedly. I figured my PSL is not by definition a true blue milsurp.

My Yugo M 48 is a good shooter but my 1891 Argentine Mauser carbine has to be my favorite.
The M1 Garand National Match is the most accurate.

I gotta say my M96 Swedish Mausers. Followed closely by my Swede M38 Husky rifles.

It's hard to beat a Swedish Mauser for accuracy unless you talk to someone from Switzerland, or Finland, then the argument starts :)

FrankenTula™

My 1938 Tula that many years ago was "sporterized" with the bbl. cut down to @ 23" and an 03A3 front sight put on it. I found it as a barreled action at a gun show for $25. Added a $10 Hungarian M44 stock from eBay, and found it shoots very accurately. The '30 Tula that Rongo currently owns was a close second. Skipper, Ron7.62, and I all put the hurt on Osama Bin Laden at 100 yards with it. Skipper (my son, 10 at the time, now 19) put his shot right in the middle of the forehead!
