I liked it but it was some of the dirtiest stuff around. Shot well though.

I only ordered a box of 20rnds but i dont expect myself to fire 20 rds this season a deer :p. but i will take 5 rounds to see how it does. I should have ordered 40 rds. Was only 9.95$ a box but 12$ shipping from texas and im in louisiana.

But oh well. Only a couple weeks til deer season. Might try some hog as well. Reckon that 203gr would do the trick ;)

I know my '28 Izhevsk ex drag likes that 174gr brown bear. It isnt a tack driver but can hit the kill zone from 100yds with my blind eye:)

I would hope you don't shoot 20 at one or 2 deer but, it is nice to test it a little and see how it does at a few different yardages. :D

Ok i cancelled my order with the other place. They emailed me wanting a money order altho i put in my credit card info to order online. Thankfully i havent been charged and cancelled.

Ok my fellow Mosin enthusiasts. Someone provide me with a link or sell me some huntin rounds for a decent price. I just need guidance.

Huntin season is around the corner and I dont have time to send a money irder and wait 2-3 weeks for twenty rounds

I have shot both the Brown bear and silver bear. They are exactly the same except one is zinc washed and the other is painted laquer. I prefer the brown bear because it's cheaper. Last time I purchased it from AIM surplus for approx. $7 or $8 per box. They dont carry it all the time but when they do make sure you stock up. Their price is always one the cheapest. I like to buy at least 10 boxes at a time because of the shipping.

This is a start. He charges $12 flatrate shipping for one box of 20rds or 10 boxes of 20rds. http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/rifle-ammunition/762x54r He has Brown Bear and Silver Bear in 174gr as well as Brown Bear in 203gr. No Silver Bear in 203gr right now but Brown Bear will do the same thing and Sam won't jerk you around like Cheaper Than Dirt does.

The worst thing about hunting with a Mosin is the damned safety.
Brown Bear ammo shoots and is cheep compared to 30-30 or 308 or 30-06
but the :big shock: safety is a concern for me. I would love to hunt with one of my M 38's.

Hey RCA (Registered Coon @ss) Yeah you Cajun....have you tried looking over at the Bass Pro Shop in Denham Springs or the Cabelas in Gonzales for your 7.62x54 hunting rounds? By the way, what part of Looziana you from? Anywhere near Avoyelles Parish? My cajun family goes back to the 1600's in South and Central Looziana. I'm out west now but I know our Cabelas has some 7.62x54 SP on the shelf here.

Heyas. Im from Mamou but live around Lafayette now

BPS and Cabelas lil over an hour away. Only been there once. Its time to go back but im curious to what grain and brand of ammo they have. Really the only reason I would want 203gr is for hogs :)

I've seen some in the 180ish grain range over there. Yeah that's a good hour away to either place for sure. Hey is Doctor Peron still alive over there in Mamou? My dad was good friends with him before my dad passed. He did have 3 good looking daughters if I recall. My brother has been hog hunting a lot the last couple of years but he likes to shoot them with his crossbow. He has taken some with his SKS and .300 win mag but he doesn't have a Mosin. I'll have to get him Mosin fever. I stumbled upon some 180ish grain FMJ Sellior and Bellot the other day but there was only about 5-10 SP in the bucket I bought for a song. Of course if you want to drive out west you can look at them...LOL.

Lol I dont reckon I know a Doctor Peron. Nothing but Savoys's here. Altho there was an old guy I used to shoot pool with that was a Doctor. We called him doc. Doctor Barney. Never knew his last name. He passed about 8 or so years ago.

Everything Ive been reading about S&B makes me wanna stay clear of them. I reckon Ima go with the Privi Parti rounds even if they are a tad more. I read good things bout them

I shot a lot of Wolf 7.62x39, but never tried their larger offerings, the non corrosive stuff I got for the SVT40 some ten years ago was S&B, I don't think Wolf was offering any at the time. I rarely shoot the SVT, but I will see about getting some Wolf for it next time and trying it out.
