Well, if i ever finish this job and get home I'm planning to to use the PPU 150 gr soft point.

Right now looks like I'll miss this season, but a job is a job you know.

There was another thread about this a while ago. Lot of good comments there too.

I use some S&B in the SVT40, it looked like all the rest of the steel case commie ammo but as the SVT isn't rusted shut I guess the non corrosive part was true enough, or maybe it was just me cleaning.

I would imagine 147 grain would do well. I have five rounds left of some commie round nose I bought packed like my corrosive stuff. It says non-corrosive hunting ammo. I shot some yesterday to make sure it was sighted in for in on the sniper. It was fine so I will use it.

Anyone use the sellier bellot? I don't like their ammo much...it's always kind of dirty.

I try to avoid S&B whenever possible. They had trouble back a while ago with quality contorl. Not sure if they are better now or not. I have a box of it somewhere but have not shot it. I have shot winchester and it shot excellant and it might be made by the same company.

I never tested the stuff as I have some other types of surplus to see it if was corrosive. I used to fire a round a foot away from a piece of auto tin that I burned all the paint off of, then let it sit on the workbench in the summer humidity. After a day you would see rust spatters start to form around the bullet hole , and in a few days a nice splatter of rust would be all over it if the ammo had salts in it. I didn't bother with the S&B as I only had a few hundred rounds of it.

I didn't know about that , I still have 60 rounds left and now it's at least 7-10 years old.

I am old so i think it was with the rifle, but i definately don't buy the pistol S&B. It had soimething to do with the primers not fitting on reload if i remember right or something to that effect.

I am going to establish a Sellior & Bellot test lab and will only require that everyone who feels iffy about their S&B to send it to me for thorough bench testing. :)

I only have one box so it would not be prudent to ship it. I will test it myself.

I did two years ago, with my Type 53 and also with my AMD-65. Didn't get a shot. I usually hunt at the in-laws' just north of town, which is in the shotgun zone, though. :|

I can only say from my experience that the British 303 S&B I just shot was crap. The primers were obviously too high and there were a lot of flyers...and trust me I can shoot a 1 inch group most of the time just check my posts and targets.

The Remington 185 core lokt shot nice 2 inch group and I was in a hurry because the ROTC was waiting for me to leave since they had the range reserved.

I also shot some S&B in .45 ACP it was dirty shooting and just as bad. They need to figure there problems out...I'm just saying don't waste your hard earned cash on this junk.

I rarely buy commercial ammo unless I have to, and S&B is commercial ammo.

The stuff of theirs I did buy wasn't bad, it all worked without issue, but that was some time back.

A few years ago dad and I decided to go the milsurp route for deer. No bucks the first day but we both scored our first coyotes, mine with a Krag and him with a Hungarian M44. I got my buck later with a t99 Arisaka. We both got deer more recently with 91/30s. Its enjoyable!
