The Mosin would work but that it what the Remington 700 with the Weaver 4x is for.

Go for it! As I have said before, there is a great satisfaction to be had from using the weapons of our enemies to put meat on the table.

Solid as a rock!! I may go old school and use my M44 lammy with iron sights this year. I need to get it out to the range to sight it in for the 203 grain SP's and see how it does.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I kind of like the 203 out of the M44s. I just finished a couple of test runs of reloads and am waiting for the weather to test them. :D

I am also thinking about fielding my PSL with 150 grain Mexi-match hunting loads. So many guns so few tags...

I will bring mine this year. Thinking my 91/59 for when we walk the property. Had one flush up last year & strafe me at 20 yds when I was beating through the woods... To fast & close for a scoped rifle. But open sights.... Woulda nailed him. I'll still use the Remington 700 in 7mm-08 for the tree stand.

I was just thinking about this! I am taking my 91/30 sniper rifle out this year since it's holding a 1inch pattern with wolf ammo. Should be fun. I normally take my Weatherby with a Refield revolution scope out which holds a 3/4 inch group with remington 150 grain. It will be fun!

:big shock:

Is that a Rock Solid scope mount from Rock Solid Industries and do you have there turned down bolt body also.
I saw a guy at the range a year or so ago that had one.I was going to do one of my Mosins with one till I found
this forum and realized it would be wrong. The guy at the range said it held zero real good.
Now if I found a Bubbad up cut down 91/30 I would probably do it if the gun was to far gone to restore.

Nope, built the mount and did the bolt myself. I used to be a dirty low-down Bubba. No permanent mods required for the mount, only the bolt was desecrated. I know better these days.

I had to shoot an injured one last night on duty...(Sheriff's Deputy.) My first deer of the season at 0345 in the morning! They are thick as tics here and they all wanted to come out last night.

I will take my PU sniper rifle out and eliminate a few for God and Country! lol

If I used a Mosin to hunt, I'd go through an entire spam can of rounds and the deer would die of laughter.

A leupold 2x7 VXII set on 2x should have more then enough FOV for quick close shots. Then if you got to sit in over an open area you can crank it up to 4x or 6x and have plenty of magnification for reasonable hunting shots out to 300yds give or take a few if needed.
