1st Mosin Sniper

Post by jeremyb »

Well I got my 1st Mosin sniper today. It’s a 1943 and its stamped number matching. The bore is mirror and the rifling looks good. Cleanest bore I’ve ever seen on a Mosin. The scope bracket has a number wrote on it that matches the lined out numbers above the stock on the left side. The numbers on the scope match the numbers above the lined out numbers. There doesn’t seem to be any refurb markings or date on the scope. I don’t know if you can tell, but the hand guard seems to be painted with a brownish black paint? Or maybe it’s got black paint mixed into the shellac. Rifle was very dirty when I got it, but seamed to clean up good and passed the head space check. She has been cleaned with boiling water. I haven’t shot it yet, and plan to go to the range on Sunday.
What can you tell me about this? Any comments .

It's one of the recent InterOrdnance/MOLOT imports that AIM Surplus and Classis Arms sold. Classic is still selling the Izhevsks for $589.95. If it is an AIM Surplus rifle it was $579.95. Wartime stock, scope is a Yoshkar-Ola, Plant NKV #297 most likely 1943 or 44.

Nice rifle! How did the transaction go with classic? Ive heard some horrer stories about them. But they have had some tempting stuff and prices.
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

Went perfect.. Fast shipping.. They even were answering emails at 10:00 at night when I was expecting an answer the next morning. I'd order from them again.

I've seen a few bad transactions that guys have had with them. It happens with any place. I've never used them and won't every buy anything from them though. They used to not even give shipping quotes until recently when they finally paid someone to update their horrible website. All that BS they used have on the front page was a pain in the arse to weed through. Not quoting shipping was even worse. They used to state it would be calculated while they packed the order to give you a more accurate price. That may be true because I just looked and they now have a shipping calculator. To ship a crate of 7.62x54R to me was $44.90. Ouch!! The-Armory used to charge $32. I thought that was high and they're further away and now charge even less. What cinched it for me was seeing chromed milsurp weapons. Chromed, I mean damn! How ghetto is that. Not to mention they're destroying collectable military firearms.

Edit: Sorry if that sounds like a rant. It's not really. Just disgust. Jeremy, have fun with it. I haven't shot mine yet but will soon. I think you'll have a blast.

Well so you can't say I don't know anything about that or the old website here ya go. Take a trip down memory lane. http://web.archive.org/web/201008190908 ... icarms.us/ What's on that page are just what they had for sale at that time. They sold many other firearms that were chromed and I'll add ruined. You may never have a problem with them. I can't have much respect for a place that does that to a military weapon. I don't see the Tokorev and Makarov pistols they did it too on the webpage there but they did those too. From what I understand they got the same amount of these rifles as AIM did about the same time. AIM sold out in about 3 to 5 days, 500 rifles. It's almost two months later and Classic's are still there. They as well as AIM are sponsors of another forum and when the AIM rifles were for sale and finally sold out the users knew these were still for sale and there they sit. That speaks very loud to me and says something about the shooting community.

Jeremy I'm not giving you a hard time. I'm telling you something you might not have known. You can buy what you want where you want. When I told you these guys are bubba's you said that because you were treated right you'd still buy from them because you didn't know about any of what I told you about. I was just showing you instead of telling you. I just found this page too. http://web.archive.org/web/200804120550 ... icarms.us/ At the bottom they're offering M44s that are chromed. It was years ago granted but to me it makes a difference and I was letting you and others that might read this know what they do to the rifles we try so hard to preserve and protect. They don't have any on the site now that I can find but that might just be because they're out. Regardless they're responsible for many milsurps being destroyed. We all get real upset when we see a post showing a guy that's destroyed one of these weapons. They're doing the same thing we see on youtube.

Classic and I parted ways many years ago after they started chroming Mosins. Before that they stuck two rifles in a box together with some paper wadding and shipped them to me. One was coming out of the box when it got here and there was some shellac damage, that was the last weapons transaction I had with them. I am glad they didn't mess with you, and your new rifle got to you in one piece, after that incident with mine I am unsure they can pour piss out of a boot with the instructions written under the heel.

I just received mine from them this last week it is perfect. NICE bore!! It shot a 1 inch group even though It was windy and I was kind of in a hurry. Anyway, the shipped it and I had it in four days at the gun store here. Excellent to buy from.

Mine is actually stamped on the scope, mount and just above the wood line on the barrel...........Crisp trigger and smooth bolt....I am seriously pleased.
