Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That is just a drop dead gorgeous rifle, the last two snaps show it off well.

That is a good piece of information. Thank you.Homer2 wrote:Very nice! Stock discs are really hard to find. Best on a curve logo Westinghouse.
One question. What letter is on the receiver tang on top? Westinghouses were made in three separate factories, and both of my curve logo NEWs are marked with a 'H' on the top tang. That is the Hill plant. The other two major ones are 'E' for East Springfield, and 'M' for Meridian.

Any idea about this mark on the above NEW receiver?

Actually I think it wont be Hämeen RatsuväkiRykmentti because its tactical abbreviation was H.R.R.BuckeyeSgt wrote:H.K.K "Häme" cavalry regiment (Hämeen ratsurykmentti in Finnish)
Found this on a Finnish War site.
HKK isn't familiar to me, I think H could refer to Huolto (service) or so, last K must be Komppania (company), but what is middle K ? Could it be Kuljetus (transportation) ?

I think one of the great joys of collecting milsurp weapons is trying to unlock some of the history of the firearm. I sometimes ponder as I hold one what a journey it has taken to get to me, the sights it has witnessed and the lives it has altered.
