Suomi KP(M-31) SMG in 9mm

Post by sharpie443 »

Got to shoot this firearm today for the first time. We have had it in the shop for quite a long time but i never got around to it. Finally i decided to do a video on it and it's history today since we were going to be out shooting video for the businesses anyway. So i grabbed it off the shelf and threw it in the truck. I had already fell in love with the history and rugged look of the gun but after shooting it today i think i have to have it. It had very little recoil and surprisingly the trigger pull was nice. I had some problems with the cheap bulk ammo I brought to use in it but it runs fine with +P 9mm. It has one heck of a hard spring in it but i wonder if it will take lighter loads after i put a few hundred rounds threw it. Probably not but I can hope and i hope you enjoy the video.

Centerfire Systems has parts kits as well as the complete rifle http://centerfiresystems.com/search.aspx?find=suomi and J&G has the complete rifle http://www.jgsales.com/-p-3889.html and I just noticed they dropped the price to $399.95. I see these a lot but never really put a lot of them up on guns-deals because I haven't seen a lot of interest in them.

Kit builds seemed to be all over the place in the 90's, Stens, FAL's, AK's, you name it, but then the kits got expensive.

I have on and I had a drum that I had I returned due to its inability to feed properly. The one I have has a very hard trigger pull but it functions fine even with the reloads that I use. I reload all my 9mm and it has cycled fine with any of them. It is a little to heavy for much off hand shooting though. The gun itself is very hefty and with a full mag, 36 rounds, makes the gun weight somewhere around 12lbs. I found it best fired from a rest position.

I .saw one at a gun show once but they don't seem to be very common. I don't know anyone who has one but they seem to be a good gun.12 lbs does seem to be heavy.is that with ammo? I did see them in J&G new catalog for $429.95 with one stick or one drum mag$39.95..They are new replica manufactured with new and surplus parts.

I believe they are new recievers and barrels and then surplus on the rest. They are HEAVY. The stocks are pure finnish looking. :D
