At the current time my list is constantly changing, as for the bucket, I need to pick said bucket up, it's got such goodies in it as:

Turkish K.Kale Mauser
Swiss Vetterli M1869/71
1913 Erfurt military Luger with matching wood base magazine :beek:

Maybe another Hakim, if the man will budge down on the price, I'm not payin 700 for one :big shock:

Hopefully, if nothing major happens, I'll make my round and collect my bucket full this weekend :D

I was looking over three 69/71's on GB this morning, there always seem to be a few around on there.

There are always a few 69/71s on GB. I think you could get one for a decent price too. Not sure if they are rimfire or not. Will have to look into them. That is why i am trying for a later carcano one.

The 69/71 I bought is rimfire, hasn't been converted to centerfire, even though the odds of ever firing it are slim, it's one that the form and function has intrigued me for a while. Plus, I got it for a very good price, the only known issue with it, is the firing pin spring is missing

These Vetterlis are rimfire, I should know I have five original 69/71 in the room with me right now. My first one cost $40 in 1979, now you can expect to pay $475 for a nice one, but I did score a matching, clean 69/71 from one of the lower production manufacturers on GB last year for just under $200 so they are out there. These can be converted to centerfire, brass is available and you can find a Bubba rifle to give up it's bolt for the conversion, never alter the bolt on a original matching Vetterli as the alteration is permanent. Before you ask, .41 Swiss rimfire was last produced in 1940, only collector cartridges remain.

I do have a Bubba rifle with this part in it, however I need the bolt for the centerire conversion. You should have no trouble finding one from Numrich. Keep your eyes open for a Bubba rifle, there are a lot of them around, Bannerman sold these rifles for a few dollars each for near 50 years, Bubba hacked away. A lot of different manufacturers made the Vetterli, and there was more than one model, Sig being one of the highest producers. If you want a Bubba for the bolt then try to get one that is the same manufacture as the rifle you have. Burrhead here on the forum shoots the Vetterli with the conversion, he has information on loadings and such. Bullets, brass, all available, and the Vetterli is said to shoot as well as any other Swiss rifle made later. There is no rimfire ammo, if you want to shoot it then you have to get that bolt and convert it to centerfire, please do not convert the original bolt on an intact rifle.

A French MAS 36. I know these are not that hard to find and the price is usually right. Those damn M91's just keep jumping in my bucket first.

I have a nice refurbed Mas 36. It is the most erratic shooting rifle i have ever seen. Either that or the ammo was crap. It was new prvi. Could hit the target one time then some place intirely different the next shot. I might be able to arrange a trade for one of those M24s you have...?

That's the way it is with milsurps, each rifle will shoot according to the wear that's on it. My Mas36 was a good shooter way back when I had a little ammo.

This one is counterbored and has a nice barrel. Will have to try some different ammo in it maybe. I have used prvi in the swiss and that thing can shoot dead bulls even with me behind the k31 sights. :D

All French Mas 36 refurbs were counterboard, roughly about 1/4 to 3/8 inch. One of mine missed the refurb and is not counterboard, commonly found on capture rifles or wartime bring backs. The most common inaccuracy issue is the forearm and handguard being loose/sloppy. They have to fit tightly on both ends or accuracy will suffer, most people pull both off to clean the rifle, but if incorrectly tightened, problems arise.

I will have to check mine next time I am in the vault, I do not recall a counterbore.

IH M1 Garand
M1 carbine.
These because my grandfather was a farmer, they had all IH machinery then. And he carried a carbine through African, Italy and Southern France.
P38 or P07 , a nice example of either.

The carbine is at the top of the list right now.
