The Russian Mosin Nagant Forum

Thanks for the reply dolk, i am looking forward to putting some loads through this one. I reload so and dont intend on using the corrosive ammo. It has some obvious signs of wear and the muzzle is counter bored. I am happy in spite of not pucking up the pu sniper clone.

Hi all some photos of my recently acquired M38 for review and comment http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n600/Hesheema/20170604_072421_zpsjnxfyqz3.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n600/Hesheema/20170604_072522_003_zps8g0epwpk.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n600/Hesheema/20170604_072...

Hi Dolk working on photos, its winter down in the southern hemisphere so i leave home when dark and get home aftrr dark.

Picked up the M38 this morning from my local dealer, suffice to say there is a small repair on the right hand side of the stock, To my eye there is no bayonet cutout or change in profile on the right hand side. the floor-plate is mis-matched but everything has the same serial number or triangle or i...

Thanks for the response Dolk, its on the way and I should see it before the end of this week. What is your view if it doesnt have the bayonet cut-out in the stock, does it become more scarce? I brought this as my knowledge is limited, I have a better knowledge of Lee Enfield's and Swedish Mausers th...

I certainly will share more photos, i hope to pick it up this coming week. The more i look into this rifle the happier i am, looks like they are not so common after all?

No importation marks ??

Its a 43 ishvek the rifle isnt here yet but images courtesy of the previous owner

Thanks for the offer , I am still on the lookout but dont think it will happen soon.

This is the latest pickup, it will suffice until I find a genuine PU.

Just brought a sealed can of bulgarian, 440 rounds in total. I will keep looking for a pu, i also grabed an m38 in a very nice laminated stock

Thanks for the honest appraisal, I was so busy checking other aspects of this one the mount slipped right past me  . I have managed to get our of the deal my eyes are deteriorating and I find it hard to use a scope, time for another eye checkup. I would like a PU sniper but due to all the fakes...

Thanks for the feedback just so i am clear the work was done at CAI or afterwards?

I am in Australia so finding a genuine unit here is as hard as in the US.

Hi Millman, Yes I have studied the fakes vs real identifying marks solid for the last week, I am a realist though and can accept the fact it could be a CAI rifle that was thrown together. Glad to have some feedback, I was hoping that there was some light at the end of the tunnel. Looking forward to ...

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression the serial number (the first 5 digits) indicates whether it was "put together"?

I will look forward to any advice to the contrary, please know I will accept any reasonable conclusion at this point.

Thanks Millman, any particular reason for your concern, I noted that on another forum there has been a few examples with similar features?

I have purchased the rifle anyway, the serial number I believe tells a story, could this be one of the early rifles put together by CAI?

Apologies for the photos, I will rectify this once I get my hands on it.

I am in the process of purchasing a 1943 PU, this one is missing the scope serial on the left hand side of the barrel. I am unable to tell if this has been removed as the rifle isn't in my possession yet, the scope and mount appear genuine however. Comments welcome, i guess the jury will be out on t...

Hi Mike thanks for the reply and welcome , my 1943 PU will be included as soon as i work out how this forum accepts images.

I also have a pristine m39 b barrel which i will get some photos of

Hi there, a long time lurker that has taken the plunge and joined this forum. Currently own an M39 finn and a 43 pu sniper, amongst my many and varied collection.
