Re: M38 Czeck capture ex-Cossack

Hi all, the bolt body is electropenciled, the rest of the serials are stamped. More pics attached. The cocking piece appears to have a W stamped in it above the center, and oddly the front sight looks like am M44 sight base and globe. The stock looks more like what I've seen on a 91/59 in config and...

M38 Czeck capture ex-Cossack

Hi folks, I just bidded on one of these and won, with receipt expected tomorrow. I saw the Ka3 marks and 1896 tang which look correct in font and placement, and it has a Czech marking which matches the data on this forum. My question is... what would the lineage of this thing be? When might have bee...

Re: How did you start your collection?

Thanks All, great backgrounds and stories. I had a fleeting thought of selling as a set but it would likely be like trying to sell a mixed bag of brass in 20 calibers and wondering why no bids came in. Thanks qz, I may list items here. Aaron

How did you start your collection?

Hi all,

I'm considering downsizing my herd, in bulk. Did anyone kick start a collection with a bunch at once, or was it one piece at a time?

Thank you kindly,
Aaron

Re: TT-C with tight chamber

UPDATE: I reloaded more brass using all Lee die and shell holder parts. The rounds chamber perfectly. Last time I used Lee dies and RCBS shell holder, which is slightly different dimensionally. After years' worth of reloads I learned this lesson for the first time, finally. Thanks all,

Aaron

Re: TT-C with tight chamber

Thanks all. The shell plate makes contact with the die now, so I suppose I could try a slight flat grinding of the shell plate top so the shoulder gets moved back just a bit. Worth a try, and if it fails a shell holder is cheap to replace. I can also try the same equipment on another press maker to ...

TT-C with tight chamber

Hi folks, I have two of these neat old-timers and both of them have trouble chambering reloads. Factory is fine but the reloads (XTPs and round nose pulled from surplus) get stuck on the way in about half to 2/3 of the time. Sometimes a gentle push on the slide finishes it up but they behave like th...

Re: Restruck receiver?

Thanks All, it's also a triple-date and in very nice shape. Very good pre-war stok, strong rifling, near (or) zero muzzle erosion and shiny bolt. I'd toss another $50 at one like that if it meant I got it. :) And yes it was recently on Gunbroker, got to be the same one. Likely a permanent member of ...

Restruck receiver?

Hi all,

I have a rifle en route that, from the photos, looks to have a 1899 Tula tang hex receiver but a 1930s Izhevsk re-stamp. Anyone else seen this before? This one is also a triple date MO. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Aaron

Re: Mag interrupter

Thanks all, by jostling I meant the stripper clip being knocked around during storage or carrying, even the better ones I have can sometimes have the rounds shift. If the stripper clips need to be carefully loaded because interrupters don't function when all is OK, then oh well I guess. But the repa...

Mag interrupter

Hi folks, Is the interrupter supposed to keep the cartridges from rim locking? What has been your experience with this working, if so? Mine isn't great, even with pretty strong springs. Is there a 'cure' I can perform? Loading the clips a certain way almost always fails due to jostling during handli...

C on the barrel shank?

Hi all, I have a Tula 1920 M91 that has a struck C on the barrel shank. It's a mix of parts but mostly Tula, and has not been refurbed. Anybody know what the C indicates? ADMINS: feel free to use the photo as a 1919-1920 Tula example photo, thank you. Aaron Ammo maker extraordinaire Ammo user comple...

Re: barrel cleaning

ffuries, yes it's good, so is regular Hoppe's for dissolving stuff, including cleaning brushes I have found. Talk about weird, patches came out cleaner then suddenly green. The brass bits that broke off the brush started dissolving in the Hoppe's. So I figured in my example I'd hit it with stronger ...

barrel cleaning

Hi folks, I recently picked up an M38 hex receiver and the muzzle showed serious rust. After soaking and scrubbing in Shooter's Choice, then alternating patches with Hoppe's Elite and scrub with a 40 cal pistol brush (3 hours including wait time) the bore came out shiny clean. Don't give up friends,...
