Re: M31 Soumi (Anyone have one of these?)

I sold mine a couple weeks ago. Was a TN Guns build. You can find them being sold right now through Centerfire Systems or J&G Sales for $430. Mags (drum or 36-round stick) are cheap. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i423/mberoose/IMG_2084.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i423/mberoose/...

Re: Just showin off my early Samco import M59.

that is a really clean example of a M59 which actually is a collectors item. if you want to preserve that Chinese spam can take a putty knife that is stiff and use the corner to puncture the back of the can in the center. Then get the edge of the putty knife in the hole you made and with a hammer c...

Re: helped a new guy out.

It kinda goes without saying that there's significantly older rifles in existence that get used frequently, and obviously a gunsmith could give anything a once-over to determine its' suitability for use, but hey, more power to the guy for his ignorance.

Re: New Mosin Owner, How Valuable Is It

A triple-date MO is a pretty rare bird indeed. Leave it be! What a coincidence, I just picked up a double-date MO yesterday. :D MO is allegedly short for Ministerstvo Oborony, or Russian Ministry of Defense. I saw a number of double-date marked MO's on GunBroker for $150-$180...triple-date...

Re: My new 1935/1949 MO marked hex Tula 91/30

One thing I think I've deciphered from the info pages (and you can see it on the stock picture, that single diagonal slash mark in the box) is that this particular rifle was a Ukranian refurb. Kinda cool.

Re: My new 1935/1949 MO marked hex Tula 91/30

I've been looking over the various markings on it today, and there really doesn't seem to be much that's out of the ordinary on the receiver, but there's all sorts of weird little stamps on the stock. Various numbers here & there...haven't been able to find anything on them in the info pages. I'...

Just showin off my early Samco import M59.

Hey - My first time back on here in a while...already showed the MO marked Tula 91/30 I got today, might as well post up the SKS I got a couple weeks ago. This is my early matching numbers Samco import Yugo M59. Probably the nicest condition SKS I've had the pleasure of seeing in person, and I consi...

My new 1935/1949 MO marked hex Tula 91/30

Hey folks. Been a while. Was on here last December when I bought my M44...figured I'd show off my new 91/30. It's a double date 1935/1949 MO marked hex receiver Tula. I understand these are somewhat rare (as far as Mosin Nagants go), so for the price of $100, I couldn't pass it up. Numbers match, so...

Re: My (new to me) 1948 M44

Thanks for the kind words. So I just had a bit of a random discovery...turns out, I received much more than 90-100 rounds. I mean, when I was leaving the guy's house yesterday, I knew the box of ammo felt pretty heavy, and it looked like more than 90-100, but I was more focused on the rifle at the t...

Re: My (new to me) 1948 M44

Probably ran 50-60 rounds through it today. There were really no surprises. Seemed to be sighted in pretty well, was just a little high at 100 yards (as expected), but overall fairly consistent. Trigger shocked me, a little bit of initial creep but a nice crisp break for an old rifle. Very nice. I h...

Re: My (new to me) 1948 M44

Thanks again to everyone.

My buddy's cousin is coming home from Afghanistan soon, and he said he'll sell me his 91/30 for $80. No idea of the specifics of it, but at 80 bucks......I really don't care.

My (new to me) 1948 M44

Finally got my hands on a Mosin. :D 1948, matching numbers M44, the one I mentioned in my first thread. http://russian-mosin-nagant-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2012 To me, it's in EXCELLENT condition. There's almost nothing in the way of scuffs or scratches, no patches in the wood anywhere. Wo...

Re: Hello from a newbie...Hex Mosin price questions within.

Just asked him for that information. Ironically, the same shop that had the hex receiver I was looking at last weekend also has an armory decommissioned sniper model 91/30, matching numbers (wood patch over scope cut-out, plugged screw holes on the bolt...on Guns America).....and it turns out the ow...

Re: Hello from a newbie...Hex Mosin price questions within.

Veddy veddy interesting.... So I'm on a local gun forum, and there's a guy in town with the following he's willing to part with: Mosin Carbine 90-100 rounds Stripper clips Sling & butt pad Asking $275. I've read through the Mosin ID 101 pages about the carbines, and I realize they are some of th...

Re: Hello from a newbie...Hex Mosin price questions within.

Whatever you do don't get upset if you find a 'better' deal later. If you keep looking for the 'best' deal, you will NEVER end up with one. During the couse of your collecting you will end up balancing out the good deals with the ones that could have been better. That was probably the first thing I...

Re: Hello from a newbie...Hex Mosin price questions within.

I think what I'm going to do is pick up the one I mentioned in the original post. Cabelas is a real hike from where I live, but within the next few weeks me & a couple friends are planning to go up there, and I'll probably pick up another one. :D
