Re: Peter A. Reinhard, Gunsmith

Lodi (Medina County) is home to the Log Cabin shop, a great place for muzzeloading enthusiasts (everything you need to either shoot or build a muzzleloader) also has a great Ohio Gunsmith Museum attached to it with guns made by every known Ohio gunsmith (or at least that's the goal). I'll see what k...

Re: Peter A. Reinhard, Gunsmith

I don't think the owner of the "Winningest Rifle" likes to publicize his collection much, but I might be able to get a list of notable achievements from him.

btw loditrapper, your name have any connection to Lodi, OH?

Re: Peter A. Reinhard, Gunsmith

I'll try to resize it here after lunch. As best I know Peter built strictly percussion. He was well known for all kinds of new techniques though, false muzzles, under hammers, telescoping sights (rare at the time)...and of course every rifle came with a custom set of tools. The tools are harder to f...

Peter A. Reinhard, Gunsmith

Hello all (long time no see! Guess I haven't been here since 2011!) Was wondering if any of you fine folks out there had a P.A. Reinhard rifle in your collections? Reinhard was born in Bavaria in 1827, and emigrated to the United States (Columbus, OH) at the age of 5. In 1847 he became an apprentice...

Re: Neifse (Neisse) 1828 Info?

Yeah, the lack of any real markings will probably leave it a mystery...although if I can acquire it I may be able to find something hidden under the barrel or something. Either way, it's a beautiful piece for it's age and certainly no one else in my group of friends will have one...

Re: Neifse (Neisse) 1828 Info?

Yeah, I know photos would be nice but unfortunately I couldn't get any...and they took the musket with them. There were no other marks besides Neifse 1828 and a crown on the lock (plus a very low serial) the barrel had the serial and an inspector mark, and the bayonet had some sort of newer serial &...

Neifse (Neisse) 1828 Info?

Anyone familiar with the Neifse/Neisse armory? I found one marked 1828, all original with bayonet in pretty good shape...although that's partly because someone lacquered the metal. Anyways, was trying to help the owner ID it. I had never heard of that manufacturer before, and only found a few tidbit...

Re: 1915 .22 Lee Enfield Ammo question.

It probably is weak, but also looks to centered to me. If it hit hard enough this wouldn't necessarily be an issue... but all of my rimfires strike on the very edge.

Re: Romanian TTC Tokarev Pistol

I bought Chuck's off of him, great gun... not the best to carry everyday, but awesome for some range time. Possible ammo shortages aside (probably something to do with the Fed's not fancying the idea of a 5 cent round that goes through body armor like a hot knife through butter, but it's still cheap...

The FMJ tends to make great fireballs at dusk... fun stuff!

I've shot both, didn't notice much of a difference between the two besides the fireballs.

Re: Bet You Don't Have a Pair of These!

No I have not fired them, and doubt they ever will be as they are part of our museum collection (although I will admit if our 1914 Hotchkiss was active I'd make sure to find an excuse to shoot it).

Thanks for the heads up Grease!

Re: Cleaning Questions

Yep, barrel is .30 but a .32 (8mm) will also work. Easiest solution - get a boresnake. They average about $15 but WELL WORTH IT in my opinion, and I'm a cheapskate. Plus, when you start taking multiple guns to the range not only is it much faster, but much easier - no switching jags, brushes, etc fo...

How hard is it to transport guns across national borders over there?
