Re: .22 Ammo
I'm finding a lot of bulk standard velocity 22lr around. Not much in small boxes or high velocity. I have a Walther p22 that really only shoots well on CCI mini mags. Haven't shot it in over a year :(

Molot M44, recent purchase from Classic Firearms
Shortly after developing an interest in Mosin Nagant rifles, I realized that what I really wanted was an M44. I managed to acquire two 91/30s (impulse buys) during my search, but couldn't find any M44s locally. I was thrilled when I found Classic Firearms (just an hour from my parents' house) had a ...

Re: Looking for a new stock for mosin 91-30
I'm with Buford. Belittling a new member for not understanding the depth and breadth of the rules is a dick move. This may not be the forum for him... but you dont need to shame and insult him into that conclusion. Thats not exactly the best way to win people over to the cause either. Also, the rule...

Be sure to stock up on cans of Spammo too. Once that surplus stuff is gone, the commercial stuff will not be nearly as cheap to shoot!

Re: anyone done business with Classic Firearms?
Here it is. Will have to take more pictures when I have time to take it down and actually clean it. Gun was packaged in this box. Not wrapped at all, but it wasnt really intended to ship since I picked up locally. Not bad. http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/ah133/beardedshooter11/Mobile%20Uploads/I...

Re: Not a sub $100 Mosin anywhere
I stopped at a Gander Mountain in SC today and they were down to 2. One standard 91/30 for $200. And one Chinese type 53 that looked pristine, unissued, very clean... but in a fancy modern thumbhole stock. They wanted $600 for that one. No thanks.

Re: Beretta 92S from SOG
I was looking at one of these at Gander Mountain today. May need to pick one up. The odd mag release on the italian police model would take some getting used to. Otherwise I think I would really like it.

Re: anyone done business with Classic Firearms?
Just picked up my M44 from Classic. Pretty much what I expected. They don't do local pickup at their own place. They drop off at a local gun shop and you pick up there. So I didn't get to hand select my own. I knew that going into it though. The local store was friendly and the transaction was quick...

There's a civil war gunshow in Dalton this weekend. And that's really close to Guns of Yesteryear in Tunnel Hill. If I was was planning a raid in my own state, that's where I would start

Re: I need help identifying this Mosin
What is the difference between a 91/30 and a PU sniper aside from the scope? I see on exsnipers where the scope used to mount. But what else makes them more desirable than a normal 9130?

Re: Cracked stock repair?
Thanks for the tip!
If I'm not mistaken it has a date stamped on it somewhere. Maybe 1914 or 1915. Will look for that when I go home this weekend. Either way... Its oldest thing I own
Even if I replace the stock I doubt I'll ever shoot it. Its more of an heirlume than a gun in my eyes.

Didn't get a good up-close picture... but here's the whole gun. Crack is right around where the red circle is. I keep this one at my parents' house (because I live in the hood and don't have a safe). Going home this weekend though. Will try to get a better pic of the crack up close. http://i1379.pho...

Cracked stock repair?
Back when I was in highschool and too dumb to care, my grandfather gave me his old double barrel shotgun. He told me it was "really old" and I probably shouldn't shoot it... so I cleaned and oiled it, and then locked it in a closet and forgot about it. I got it out this past Christmas and ...

Re: New member, my first two Mosins...
The 35 Tula wearing a lammy stock is a nice find, I too would have picked up that one. I thought that was odd when I first noticed it. Are the laminated stocks a post-ww2 refit? After the M44 you will need a M39 then some more Finns then.......ah heck more more more. I agree that I want moar milsur...

Re: New Guy Question
Followup question... I know a few people who insist on hunting with leadfree ammo. I think it is (or was) required in some states. Does anyone make leadfree rounds in 762x54r?
