Odd box of ammo

Hi Gang. I was given this wedge shaped cardboard box including 20 rounds of 7.62x54r yellow tip (magnetic) ammo. Ammo marked 60 and 35. No guarantee the rounds are original to the box. Just for grins, anybody know anything about the box?

Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!

It has occurred to me that if the Administration wanted to hurt Russia, instead of some goofy back door gun control, they should stop import of Russian Vodka. That'd really get their attention!

I sure hope not, they are seen as the most respectable suppliers here out West.

Re: "I hate bubba" bore update

Hi Gang, I work in a gun store with several young fellows who shoot competitively with their 'black rifles'. When I purchased my latest 91/30- a chipper-looking 1940 Izhevsk with a sleek receiver & promising rifling - I decided to show it to them with the cosmoline still on. After the laughter d...

Re: Reloading berdan

Here's an easy way to decap Surplus 7.62x54r cases using simple water pressure: Find a steel rod that snugly fits into the case mouth and is taller than the case (I use the decapping rod from my Lee Classic Loader – since I only deal with surplus steel, I ground the pin off the end of it). First sti...

Re: two issued Vintovka 1891/30

:D :D I have a soft spot for grunt rifles like these. It's that history channel thing. There's that connection between the soldier and the rifle that my typical Mosin refurbs lack. I had a Mauser that had a whole bunch of stories to tell, from the looks of it. I like the 3 line repair  Vint...

Re: Stripper Clips

I've always loaded my ammo from stripper clips. Lots and lots of them. Just part of the experience. Here's my two cents worth :2cents: ... For Clarity: When you lie the stripper clip on it's 'back' its profile is like a letter U. I'll call the uprights 'walls'. I've seen two versions of stripper cli...

Beautiful color - sort of reminds me of the hot-salt barrel browning I used on my CVS muzzle loaders back in the day.

Re: Purchasing cast bullets for oversized grooves

Thanks guys! I'm going to use a lighter than original cast bullet (gas check) in a shorter 7x39 size. I'll replace the surplus ammo (my lawn will like that :D ) and use the type/amount as suggested.

Purchasing cast bullets for oversized grooves

I've read a lot here that leaves me inclined to use cast bullets with a gas seal. My "reloading" activity is limited to pulling the bullet out of a surplus round with an inertia puller, then seating a non-magnetic bullet (required in SoCal) of equal or very close weight/diameter right back...

Re: these guys shouldn't own mosins

Pretty funny- they remind me of myself with my first Mosin on day 1 :redfaced: . Got me thinking...They couldn't pronounce the name, couldn't get the calibre right, hadn't even cleaned it... but notice how excited he was just to have it, how how cool he thought the bolt sounded when he cycled it, an...

Re: Trigger Slop / Play

I put one of those trigger spring on a M-38 that had a trigger that'd rattle when the rifle was shaken (bet others have seen the same thing). It feels better with some back pressure, but doesn't do anything to make the break more 'crisp'. On most of my Mosins, the bolt moves a little when I get clos...
